In reply to: 2 homepages showing helpthis is a very common mistake people make. go back and delete ‘all’ of the ‘default posts/pages’ which were auto created when you installed wordpress.
then make a new page and title it ‘home’. go to settings > reading > choose home page and make it a static front page. then go appearance > menu and create a custom menu. make sure you make the menu primary. now add your home page to the nav bar and you should see it when you save refresh everything.
to get rid of ?page_id=16 in your url,, go to permalinks and set to ‘post name’ option

In reply to: 404 error on 2nd page of blog after 3.4 upgradeok mikaelajoy
i notice this url https://www.simplyemjoy.com/page/2/ is set as “2” and “next page” as you hover over them. does this page/post exist? is the permalink structure correct on the “page or post”?
i also notice the other pages are displaying properly, but they have different urls.. ie. https://www.simplyemjoy.com/its-not-easy-being-green/
some are also set under https://www.simplyemjoy.com/category/
make sure you placed the page/post in the correct category also.also, can you define “next page” in your theme? id try that too.
its hard to say without seeing the front end but id double check those things first
hope this helps

In reply to: 404 error on 2nd page of blog after 3.4 upgradea lot of things could be causing this.
heres what i would try.
1.go dashboard-settings-permalink and set permalink structure to posts name.
2.go to the page or post thats not showing. click permalink edit ( just below your pages title)now clear everything from the box. click ok, then update.see if your page is showing properly now

In reply to: Problem w/ Fantastico Installthere are possibly files still within the domain. i would go into domains and totally remove the domain. then go into add on domains and add the domain back in. then use fantastico and try again.

In reply to: Installation in sub folder – navigation issuespeter
which buttons? are navigating to the blog. do you have a link to the site in question.
if im understanding your problem correctly; heres two ways you could do it.
1. create the new blog by making it a sub-domain like this: subfolder.yourdomain.com do this in hostgators add-on domain option, then load wordpress on it using fantastico.
or
2. create folder as you mentioned. you can do it hostgator but i usually just create a folder using my ftp client under the domain name you want to use.ie.. mydomain.com/blog then load wordpress in /blog folder.
once the new blog folder is setup you can use duplicator plugin to easily transfer/clone/copy everything to it.

In reply to: center the blog? how?pearl
have you checked the width and height of your new header. in some themes your header may throw things off if the dimensions arent properly set.

In reply to: This is somewhat embarrassing, isn’t it?also, its possible you accidentally setup your last post incorrectly. id would back track and take a look at the post. it may be pointing to an area thats inaccessible or doesnt exist.
sometimes if link is bad, or wordpress cant find what its looking for it will re-direct you back to the home page too.

:endForum: Localhost Installs
In reply to: Local Hosting, Is it real important for SEO?i wouldnt say that local hosting has a ‘measurable’ affect when it comes to seo and the search engines. more importantly; id say the content quality of your site, its layout and ease of use bears more weight in the eyes of google, bing, yahoo and others.
each search engine has its own algorithms for ‘judging’ your site. many factors come in to play when youre concentrating on seo. google is big on “the readers experience” so make your site as informative as possible.
again, i cant say how hosting from india will affect your site but give yourself every chance for top ranking by building your site properly first.

how did you install wordpress? was it using fantastico through your hosting account, or were you using an ftp client?
looks like you may have at least two installation attempts. i would try re-setting everything back to square one, and trying from scratch.

im not familiar with that particular theme but generally you can set your home page from dashboard > settings > reading. it can be a post or page. first create the post or page you want to use; then set it.
hope this helps
