In reply to: WordPress database error: [MySQL server has gone away]I think that solution helped me while working on a client site (hadn’t run into this issue on other upgrades before). But after fixing it with that fix, started getting php.ini errors like crazy, wondering if there might be a deeper root cause

In reply to: MySQL server has gone away after upgrade to 3.0experiencing lots of problems with this on a site, the error is killing the cpu, doesn’t seem to have anything to do with plugin conflict (red herring)
Rob seemed to have a pretty good handle on the REAL problem up through wp 2.8.2 or so, but no updates on it since then
Anyone found a better solution to this yet???? issue seems to lie in the wp-db.php file

In reply to: Uploading site file that is bigger than maximum allowedI’m running into this same error attempting to import data from a WP 2.9.2 install to a new 2.9.2 install (that I will be using for test).
Never run into this problem and have configured many different test accounts on this particular host/server before. The file size I’m having problems with is 16.7mb.
I’ve uploaded that size of a site file before on this server also (bigger even).
So far I’ve attempted the wp-config change option suggested above and waiting to see if that works (going very slow)

In reply to: Failed to connect to FTP Server / adds :21 at end of hostname?? if you haven’t already found this related thread here in the forums, seems to indicate what I was on the path to discovering just now.

bottom line, this is not likely to be something for a neophyte to tackle easily.

In reply to: Failed to connect to FTP Server / adds :21 at end of hostnameFound this article on SFTP and WordPress, which seems to indicate that this is something that you must address at the server level first and then also/later in a wordpress file
https://devioustree.co.uk/2009/02/21/auto-update-wordpress-with-sftp/
Note the article dates from about a year ago (2009) so not sure if there is a more recent solution for WP 2.9.2+

In reply to: Failed to connect to FTP Server / adds :21 at end of hostnameI get this same issue via wordpress on a site where I have to login using SFTP through my normal ftp program.
Not sure if that helps identify the issue more, but thought I’d mention it.

In reply to: Import From BloggerI kept experiencing import hangs and different points in both posts and comments.
I finally succeeded however, when I went through blogger, used the export feature in blogger, then converted that file with the https://blogger2wordpress.appspot.com/ tool. Then I could import the resulting file into wordpress. Several extra steps but I got past being stuck.

In reply to: Artisteer theme not working!!!looks like esmi and later numeeja covered your issue, even though today you are running a different theme. Its a good practice to always double check to insure that all of your theme files were completely upload or installed if you initially get an error after activating the theme. ??
This thread should probably be switched to ‘resolved’. ??

In reply to: Upgrade Plugin: Unable to locate WordPress Content directory (wp-content).the original thread was closed, but just to give a heads up, I’m seeing this issue in 2.9.1 with Media Temple on an installation that worked just fine 3 days ago.

In reply to: Warning: implode() [function.implode]:I upgraded to WordPress 2.8.5, and I still have this problem regardless of whether or not I disable DB cache.
This problem is seriously driving me nuts and won’t go away.:(

In reply to: [Plugin: PHPFreeChat] Error when saving settingsI can delete and then rewrite a new comment or page – work around

In reply to: [Plugin: PHPFreeChat] Error when saving settingsThis error is plaguing me on a couple different installs. It makes it impossible for me to edit both comments and pages on the site, get the error after attempting to send (save/update).
I’m not a programmer so debugging isn’t really something I can get very far with on this issue. ?? Stuck, hoping for a fix with the next upgrade. Not even something Matt M. can help with this weekend at WordCamp. ??
