    Thank you iridiax,

But the fact of the matter is that WP has a widespread problem, not only as evidenced on this forum, but across the Internet as a whole. It’s not like I’m the only one, and the idividualization of the problems you listed seem to predeominately focus on it being me. Not even remotely true. Everyone knows, and everyone is talking about it.

At least 50 percent of your suggestions are not viable options. I know the difference between an ASCII file and a graphic file, or I wouldn’t be able to post any pictures at all would I? If my browser was having problems, even an absolute reference wouldn’t make a difference. And I use several browsers by the way, as most people who develop for the Internet do.

The above list goes on and on, but the fact of the matter is that thousands of WP users can’t get answers and the company remains not only silent, but they refuse any help at all. They prefer to blame us.

If the problem is so localized as your post suggests, why are there so many posts on the forum about it? Why is the Internet community outraged by it? Why can anyone Google the terms +”WordPress” and +”Media Upload problems” and get several million hits?

WP needs to address this now, or they will lose this community forever.

    But it’s not just me.

I want to talk to someone at WP, and I’m quite serious about it.

Wow, you’re good. Did you get that out of Firefox?

Anyway, it seems to be calling the data okay as the top commentators section indicates. Maybe if I limit the data it calls through the PHP to a single category, it will display that one category alright. The only real problem seems to be that I can’t click on the buttons to show different categories.

Failing that, can’t I just comment out the PHP so nothing shows at all? I don’t particularly like those displays anyway.

Well, I’m not real big on giving up, so let’s just think about it a bit before we go to that extreme.

You’ve been to my site, and you may have noticed that the “top commenters” section works fine. It’s the buttons at the bottom of the page that aren’t working.

Can’t I simply take the PHP code and put it into the other column in a fixed space (like top commentators)? If so, what would I have to do to do that?

I really don’t want to change the poll or the theme. The poll is too cool and the theme has taken way too much work!

When you say “it” is conflicting, you mean the WP Poll, right?

    What can I do?

    Hi Gamer Z,

Thanks for help on WP Email, but now I have a problem with WP Poll (which really is great), but ever since I installed it, the Recent Entries, Recent Comments and Most Comments buttons don’t work on the bottom of the sidebar. My site is https://writertotheworld.com

    Do you have any ideas?

Also, please indicate what’s an approprite donation to make. Once I get out of beta stage all my plug in authors and template author will get one, but I have no idea what’s normal?

    Thanks,
    B

I figured out the problem. Rather than enshrine myself in the “Hallowed Hall of Half-Wits,” I’d rather not tell you what I did wrong.

Dude, this is great! I love it. Do all your plug-ins work like this?

I’m still in beta stage, working out a lot of kinks, but as soon as I’m done, I will make a donation. Please let me know what’s appropriate.

    My Deepest Thanks,
    Brian

The path is correct. Just as you said it should be.

Yes, it’s in its own folder. I haven’t opened it, but I assume all is as it should be, and I wouldn’t know the difference anyway.

    Oh, sorry, my mistake entirely.

    Here’s the path:
    /public_html/wp-content/plugins/

My server doesn’t have my account setup in it’s own named folder like many/most others (i.e. writertotheworld)

I don’t know the path, but I can try asking my host company for it. Below is the URL if that’s any help. Should I ask my hosting company?

    Hi Otto,

Thanks for your response. I understand how to log into my WP account, but there isn’t any email tab there. The closest thing to it is under the users section, where there’s an input box for the email account name a specific user. But there isn’t an email tab or any way to configure email.

All email issues are handled through the control panel for the hosting account. That’s where I read the email, configure forwarding addresses, auto responses, etc. None of that is possible through my version of WP that I get through my host.

There isn’t. Email is handled through the server side (Horde), not in WP.

If you give me an address, I can send a screen capture.

    Lester,

Your plug-ins look great, but when I try to follow the instructions, I can’t even get to the WP-Admin section. Is it my hosting service? There is no “admin” button in the interface, and I looked into the folder on the FTP side, and there’s no way to set the email options. I even signed on to my site as “admin” and there just isn’t an option for WP-Admin.

Okay, maybe I’m dumb, but I’m definitely missiong something here.

    Can you help?

    Steve,

Thanks so much for your response. I believe the button you’re referring to though is only for embedded media, as opposed to media I might want opened in a seperate window by itself after clicking on a link.

I’m beginning to suspect that part of the reason why it’s not showing up is the file structure of the site. I’ve done other sites where the structure was set up for me, and didn’t have this problem. If anyone out there might be able to give their ideas on this, or any other topic, I’m all ears.

    Thanks Again Steve,
    Brian

Thanks Otto. That looks like it iwll work. Just out of curiousity, is it better for search engine results to use the latter, i.e., <! … –> pair?

    Thanks again.
