In reply to: Renaming or Moving WP-Admin & WP-Content EffectsOops, I said I wanna rename wp-admin. My bad. Just wp-content. And maybe move (or even rename if possible) wp-uploads.
My aim is to increase site security and prevent bot attacks.
When it comes to securing a WP site most talk about renaming wp-content. So I was wondering whether it would be wise to proceed with it.
To make it simple, I’d say I found out these:
Pros
1 Enhances security
2 Prevents access to the uploads folder (www.yourdomain.com/wp-content/uploads/)Cons
1 Future updates of WP will fail (procedure may have to be repeated every time an update is made.)
2 Update of plugins will fail, etc.I definitely agree. I’m thinking the same. Not sure which plugin to install. Will have to research a bit …and will blog about it too.
Yes, there are many ways.
Way 1 – You have an old backup of this plugin (like maybe a cron job where your website is hosted)
Way 2 – Ask someone who has not upgraded to the newer version to zip it and email it to you.
Way 3 – Ask iThemes to email it to you.Go here – He might be able to help.
I haven’t disabled it yet because it helps prevent brute force attacks.
Oh, that is surely a bug then. Sorry I’m a beginner yet, so can’t advice on what to do now. I too regret upgrading to the new version.
I think it’s time we move on to a different (and maybe better) security plugin. iThemes doesn’t really care to reply to support threads. Not to mention they’ve four authors!
19 out of 262 threads [resolved]
**That represents a huge amount of dis-satisfaction.**
uninstall and re-install. see if that works.
Uninstall and re-install the plugin. (That’s what I did and it worked for me.) And are you seeing a weird login page like this?
I did review the new settings. They are definitely better than before. But what about the login page acting weird?

In reply to: [WordPress MU Domain Mapping] Can't Add or See My New DomainHey Bruce!
Thanks for your reply. For now, I am installing a separate WP dashboard for the new site. This is too complex, or maybe I’m too lazy to fix this annoying issue now. (I’m short of time actually.)
PS – This issue is NOT resolved, but I’ll come back later. Maybe after a few months and post as to what I did to resolve this issue.

In reply to: [WordPress MU Domain Mapping] Can't Add or See My New DomainI’m sorry to say this but you are not really helping.
It took me a day to figure out things by myself. I figured out that the dot shouldn’t be there. You simply said – remove the plugin until… Wow. I am guessing you are just answering for the sake of answering.
All I have to say right now is I STILL DON’T have my 2nd site up and running and I thought ‘how much time would it take to get my second site running?! huh, a couple of hours! must be easy.’
Please help guys!
I managed to add a new site but now I can’t see a dashboard for it. Nor can see or apply a theme to it.
Can someone please go through this thread and see what I may have been missing? Please, it’s urgent!
Thanks.

In reply to: [WordPress MU Domain Mapping] Can't Add or See My New DomainI just figured out a silly mistake I had made while adding a site. (It can’t have a . (dot).) So now I can add a new site, but the new site’s slug has the primary site name in its domain name. It should be new-site.com and not noblogshit.com/new-site.
