In reply to: Geek News SiteWell here’s a brief history…
We started out in 1999 as the message board community (using InfoPop’s UBB software) for the Star Wars news site EpisodeII.com. The news site closed after the movie came out in 2002, but Nightly.Net continued on and we broadened our interests to include other movies, TV, comics, etc., etc. We switched to IPB in April 2006. Then in April 2008 we started the news site again using WordPress.

In reply to: forum styleYes, you would just have to edit your template to display your content as such. And mess with the CSS to get the design right.
Take a look at the template tags in the Codex, and you’ll get the idea. It would be very simple.

In reply to: WordPress 2.5 Widget Interface – I don’t like itThanks for pointing that out Chris, about the widget settings not saving. I’ll try to remove the edit option entirely to prevent that. Or try to make it work. But I’m not a PHP whiz!
And yeah, I saw that admin menu creation page in Codex. But that’s for plugins, and I don’t know how to make this a plugin.

In reply to: WordPress 2.5 Widget Interface – I don’t like itWant to use the 2.3 widget interface in 2.5? You’re in luck!
Just download these files and upload/replace in the appropriate places! To use, just navigate to: https://www.yourdomain.com/wp-admin/widgets2.php
I’d like to make a new sub-menu link to this page, but I don’t know how! Any help would be appreciated! I’ll also try to make this a plugin.
But for the time being, enjoy using the old interface with 2.5! Woo!

@ doobiefillin, I’m using the structure theme from Justin Tadlock. Can you be more specific regarding your question? Which columns exactly?

In reply to: wpstats duplicateI’m having this same problem now. I just deactivated and reactivated the plugin and it created a duplicate stats page for my site.
I’m guessing this is not a local problem, but a problem with the WordPress.com API keys?? Do they get corrupted somehow?

@flsunshine – we have the headlines on the side because I don’t want people to miss out on the non-movie stories. If that makes sense. Maybe there’s a better way to do it though.
