    Thank you.

So, I went into Safari, and the WordFence Firewall settings, and set it to Learning Mode. Then I tried viewing that page again, and it did not display any errors. Then, I tried logging out, and the Calendar displayed with no errors again. I reset the WordFence Firewall settings to ‘Protect…’, and then went into Firefox and tried that calendar page from there. It displayed without issues.

So, I’m not sure whether I did anything, or whether it ‘magically’ fixed itself…

please do not “bump” topics by adding replies that don’t add useful information. I realize that saying it’s not a theme specific question could be called “useful information”, but generally replies with content such as “Anyone?” are intended as a bump attempt.

Either way, bumping doesn’t have the affect you’re after. It does not move your topic back to the top of the list. Additionally, adding replies could make your topic look like someone else has already responded and some people who might be able to help you might simply skip past your topic. If nothing else, bumping is against our forum guidelines.

    Well, thanks.

My ‘anyone’? was a response to lack of response. I wasn’t aware that one was not supposed to do that, and I certainly don’t think that my response deserved your comments. I was quite polite, and had no intention of ‘bumping’, just making sure that my post wasn’t being forgotten or ignored. Were you having a bad day?

Having pagination appear at both top and bottom is theme dependent. If your theme doesn’t offer such an option, either find one that does or customize your preferred theme’s templates to include top pagination.

OK, I’ll check back with my theme developers. They have been quite helpful.

WP pages were never intended to be paginated, thus nearly all built-in pagination functions will not work with pages. It is possible to paginate nearly anything with?paginate_links(). The problem will then be creating pagination URLs that mean something to WP. You’d likely need to create companion custom queries to properly fetch paginated pages as desired.

Just because you think pages don’t need to be paginated doesn’t mean that it’s not useful. I have a number of long pages, and pagination helps me allow my readers to absorb the material in reasonable chunks, plus it helps with page loading. I’m not doing anything fancy; just breaking up my pages, and looking for a way of changing the way the pagination looks.

Is there another place where I can ask whether such things are possible in the future? I did not intend to ruffle feathers, just trying to get information.

    Any response? From anyone?

Note this is not a Blocksy theme specific question. It concerns WordPress.

Regarding pagination location, it occurred to me that it might be possible for the pagination block provide options:

    • To provide the actual pagination format, and whether or not to insert a new page.

If the pagination block could be used without inserting a new page, then it could be used to insert the pagination at the top of a page (or elsewhere).

Thank you! That solves the problem in my specific case, and allows me to improve the look of the pullquote.

However, may I politely suggest that you fix the visual artifact problem in a future release?

    Thank you!

Incidentally, I tried to create a PullQuote using another theme (Blocksy), and the artifact wasn’t there. Plus the PullQuote looked visually a lot more interesting, even before making changes.

Wonderful! Thanks for your prompt and very positive response.

No urgent need. I’ll be on the lookout for the v. 2.0.64 release!

Thank you for your quick response.

Unfortunately, it seems your implementation of Pagination formats is only for Blog Posts. I am using pagination on my website’s pages.

I had noted that the Pagination controls in Customize are under Blog Posts, so I had a suspicion. Anyway, I tried setting the Pagination Type to Next/Prev. No change whatsoever on my pages.

    Bug? Advice?

    Thanks!

    Thanks for considering my input.

Well, I guess it depends on what you’re trying to format. Languages like C, C++, Java, etc. should not, IMHO be subject to ligature changes. The code should look exactly the same as the original.

But I went in and looked at what other languages/things you can format (the choice in the settings), and realized that I didn’t know what a lot of them are, so couldn’t tell whether they should be subject to ligatures or not. You are much the better judge of that.

Choose a suitable non-ligature font when a language like C, C++, Java is chosen, so sensible things happen in those language cases?

    (@bryanhiggs)

    Thanks, Kevin.

I went into the Fonts section. I found it was set to JetBrains Mono. I changed it to JetBrains Mono (no ligatures), and that fixed it. Simple when you know where to look (I didn’t!).

Is there any case where you display code using this plugin where ligatures are acceptable/useful? Especially, shouldn’t the default font be a non-ligature font?

Note that there are WordPress Block Editor <code> blocks elsewhere on that website that contain != without this kind of conversion.

Your page at https://souheganvalleychorus.org/events/svc-events-calendar/ shows an error so I cannot comment on that.

I took a look at this, and it turns out that this calendar only displays when I’m logged into the website with an account with admin privileges. See below for more information — a possible bug?

When I look at the page at https://souheganvalleychorus.org/full-calendar-2/ I see a purple / turquoise color for the events with a white font color, that can be read, so this looks good to me.

I have added the calendar for ‘Friends of SVC Events’ for this calendar (the one that is supposed to be displayed on the other page), and those events show up, without errors, whether I’m logged in or otherwise. Use the Month view, and go back to April, 2024, to see some events that display the color problems I describe. If I switch to Week view, those events look much better, and follow the colors I want (although I would like to have control of the text color).

So, I guess that my color issues are with the display in the Month view.

Why would the ‘Friends of SVC Events’ calendar events show up without problems on the Full calendar page, but, on the Friends of SVC Events Calendar page, show ‘Unknown error’? I have looked at the setup for both, and see no explanation for the difference in behavior.

    Still not quite there…

I have specified the colors for the two calendars on this page: https://souheganvalleychorus.org/events/svc-events-calendar/ :

The US Holidays entries show the background color I picked (“Wisteria”), but the actual events for “Friends of SVC Events” show with a dark Turquoise color, and blue text, which is not easy to read in contrast. There is an indication that the color I chose for that calendar (“Mango”) is set, by the small colored dot in the upper left corner. But I cannot seem to change the entire event color or text to make it more readable. The little colored dot isn’t very useful.

Is there some way I can control this?

Another example is this page: https://souheganvalleychorus.org/full-calendar-2/

Is there some way to ‘grey-out’ past events, as opposed to just hiding them?

    Thanks!
