Two word category names work when you don’t use _ to separate them. Just type them into the shortcode as they are with regular spaces.

For the time being I’ve found a shortcut. Under VideoGall’s “additional settings” I’ve turned pagination on and set it to 1 Video Per Page. That’s a roundabout way to make my own site’s homepage look as I want it to.

However it limits my ability to show more than one video’s thumbnail at a time in the same category should I want to on a post or page. And there’s now a little numbered icon underneath the video in my post, which is just a nuisance really.

So I still need the first question answered if anyone can help. Even though my homepage looks fine for the time being, the plugin’s function is being limited by my duct taping of the problem.

I don’t know how to create a childtheme and to be honest is seems like a lot more work than merely tweaking the three things I am. Thank you for the warning though.

That got rid of the black bar, thank you!

However, the ‘search’ is still there. I want to get rid of that ‘search’ and use the widget one I installed on my sidebar.

Could you help with that as well?
