Thanks for the quick response. I was thinking that and tried deactivating wordfence and jetpack as well, but still couldn’t upload the file. Maybe it’s a cache issue, but emptying it or using a different browser didn’t help either. It’s driving me nuts.

I had the same problem with the screen options and help tabs not functioning and the widgets frozen. I do not have the Slim stats plug in (though I might want to check it out now). I tried deactivating my plug ins and uninstalling them, but no go. I run several site with the 3.5 wordpress version, but this is the only site with the problem. The only thing I found so far that seems to work is the suggestion earlier in this thread that provided code to revert back to an earlier version of WP. Viola! that did the trick. But I’d like to keep my WP up to date. I hope they can fix this “core” problem soon.

Try using an image that is 1000px by 288px (the size of the default pic).

I found when the size was to small it would not work, but with a large size image it replaced the default one.

I’m not a “coder” either, but it sure sounds like this is what I’m trying to do.

I would like to be able to do a post as it is currently being done but then be able to direct the post to a page. If no direction it should default to the front page, but it would be great to have a drop down where you could direct the post to appear on a “static” page.

Example: I have a blog for a community theatre. On the front page I want to display the current show advertisement categorized with the season it is in so later all the shows in that category can be displayed when selected. I would also like a page where I could post theatre news or announcements and use categories the same way.

I’m surprised that there are not more calls for this type of thing.

I just had the same problem with 2.8.2 and I changed the “host name” to localhost and used my ftp username and password and it worked fine.
