Thanks, I didn’t see the icon on the page. However, this caused another bigger problem. I opened the page I wanted to publish from. clicked on the icon and selected the category I wanted and it seemed to place the same icon on page next to shortcode. I clicked publish and I got a blank page. I try to come back in to edit page and I get the same blank page. I am using WordPress 4.8 and Extra magazine theme from elegant themes.

I want to create a slider for each of my category pages. So from your answer above, even though you can create new sliders in Admin, Smooth Slider does not support editing the new sliders?

Second question for you. In Roster Slider, if I create a slider I like and want to duplicate it’s setting, can I create new settings file(s) and copy the original slider settings to the new one(s) (perhaps using the export/import functionality?

No, your presumption is not true in this case as I have tested on different computers. This is a matter of IE and Chrome not seeing the updates from my site in a timely fashion. It is not a consistent issue but on some of my category pages, the caching dates are anywhere from 2 – 7 days behind when the latest post was added.
