Adding official support for Elementor widgets like this is not on the roadmap for WP Smartcrop, unfortunately. This is something we will consider for a future release, and appreciate you taking the time to report it.

@jslemahieu You are correct about how caching and URL parameters would work, but that would degrade caching in the typical use case, and as such is not a feature we’re considering at this time.

The quick solution for this is to not use the theme variables for windows. They seem to be generating incorrectly.

By default the compiler starts pathing at wp-content/ so specifying only everything after that should fix the problem.

Could you try disabling all other plugins, and switching the theme over to Twenty-Nineteen and let us know if the problem persists.

Adding an automatic versioning would defeat caching all the time, which would likely cause excessive server loads.

I might suggest setting browser cache headers to not cache specific images instead.
