Thanks Songdogtech, I tried everything I could but to no avail. What I did was that I migrated to another hosting service but looks as if the database as well as some vital files were corrupted.

Therefore I asked for the services of the technical team of the new hosting and they did a fantastic job. They succeeded to remove all the malwares installed, redirect scripts which are difficult to locate and injected codes to the plugins.

Now I am happy because my sites are now functioning as before. I think I will think twice in future before I take up any offer of unlimited hosting even if it is from a friend. I wrote a post about this at The Dangers Of Free Web Hosting with the intention that maybe it might help others not to make the same mistakes I made by getting a free hosting through a friend.

Thank you all for your help. I really appreciate it.

Thanks Kionae and Samuel B. I finally succeeded to retrieve my posts. Thanks for your support.

    This is what I did:
    1. Opened up the sql file in wordpad

    2. I then used the Edit –> Replace function which replaced the new url with the old one

    3. Imported the sql file into pühpmyadmin. This created a database on my localhost with the same name and data.

    4. Launched wordpress from my localhost and then

    5. In the admin panel Tools –> Export –> All contents in xml format.
Now this is where I met with problem again. As I wanted to import the generated xml file into my new server, I got error that the limit is 2M and the xml is 2.1M. Is there a way round this?

I decided to export and import by categories which was time consuming but I made a few then I got tired doing this and wanted to know if there is an easier method.

Yes I first created a database on my xampp and then imported the database back up. When I installed the new wordpress the posts urls were displayed but on clicking them they directed me to the former url and displayed the error message.

Thanks Samuel for your reply. I configured the localhost wp-config.php exactly as the one on the hosting. The same Database name, the same user and password.

Thanks Samboll for your help. After trying all sorts of tricks, I think I’ve found the solution. I copied the provided .htaccess from the wordpress administrator panel and uploaded it onto the server. It seems to be working but I am not sure for how long since I have not written any new post yet.

Thanks Samboll, I reset the permalinks to default and it worked. I could access the posts. The problem I have now is how to change the permalinks to the original extensions. How can I return it to the custom structure “/%postname%.html”? because the original posts were in this format.
    Thanks.
