The theme test is working now. I think all that happened is that there is a delay of a couple of minutes before the experiment goes live and starts reporting. After a while I could see the alternatives on the page and the statistics coming in.

Update:
My developer and host believe it was a server issue and it is just a coincidence the problems occured after trying to create a headline experiment. The plugin therefore most likely has no major issues.

I also found the Immediate Activation Mode. I had just assumed the plugin is as much plug-and-play as Optimizely itself; will read documentation from now on. ??

I had the same issues. In fact, even more severe: When I tried creating a headline experiment on a live website with significant traffic it broke everything leading to 504 Gateway Time-Outs…

What is Immediate Activation Mode and how can I use it?

Update:
It is working now. It seems the issue was either
a) related to caching or
b) occured because my Yoast plugin for Google Analytics was not on the latest version.

Exactly the same thing happened to me!

I deactivated the plugin so I could update another plugin more easily. And my complete website broke down returning an empty page.

wpseek and tmnitz, you found any fix for this? my website actually gets a bit of traffic these days, so this is uncomfortable!

I strongly believe that your code for this plugin is as solid as for all of your other themes and plugins. Maybe I just had a weird and rare combination of plugins on my page or a corrupt download, that made it break.

Resolved: This is somewhat ridiculous, but it seems the problems caused by me not having installed the latest version of the google analytics plugin by Yoast. Now it works splendidly! Many thanks for that plugin ??

Quick update after some testing:
The plugin itself by itself does not break all of the page. Only the pages that actually use the shortcode or widget are broken.

I also tried turning off the W3 Caching plugin to make sure it’s not because of that, but that didn’t make a difference.

Good to hear. Hope it comes back one day ??
But for the moment manually testing should be just fine.

By the way, another feedback on the plugin description/feature list:
I almost opted for the sumo-me plugin instead of this one, simply because I was under the impression that mailmunch has no “scrollbox” option and thought you only offer annoying standard popups.
I am happy I chose you guys for the other features AND have scrollbox as well now.

The thing is that they directly rewrote the woocommerce.php in the theme for me. Because of that I don’t know what changed.

My guess is that it is allowing shortcode in the excerpt/product short description. From what I saw on the web it is some variation of
add_filter( 'get_the_excerpt', 'do_shortcode');
in the functions.php.

However, the specific implementation of that might depend on the theme, because in its raw form the code didn’t work for me.
