Just an update at the moment I am looking for another developer who can help out and fill the void of me not having as much time at the moment. I have been talking to one person who will hopefully help develop and for the time being maybe step up and take control until my issues are sorted and they should be able to take the plugin a bit further in all areas more than I can at the moment. until then i will try to release updates fixing bugs and other things when I can.

at the moment they are gone. had a problem with a host at one time so the site was lost. i am working on trying to sort somethings out and hopefully it will be for the best of the plugin

announce depending on your host can have a problem because of the settings for some host. some host are either to lazy to setup their servers correctly and are afraid of people doing things they should not be doing or they lock certain things so you will upgrade to a better hosting plan or they lock things because they block torrent sites. i have seen plenty of host disable things because they see it as a security risk when it isn’t or because they want more money. if you are on a free host then chances are the plugin will not work but i have seen it work on some free hosts out there. best hosting to have is either a vps or dedicated server where you have full control if you can afford it.

i have not ran into this problem but i will look into it. if possible without messing up anything on your site could you disable any other plugins you have and then try it so i can rule out that it is not conflicting with other plugins.

you need to make sure the folder for wordpress uploads are writable and also make sure your tmp folder is writable and paths are correct. do you have any problems uploading photos into a normal post? the plugin uses the same folder as which wordpress uses for upload like photos in a post.

if a page shows the short code instead of the actual page then either you do not have the plugin activated or something is conflicting with the plugin or your theme is a problem or there could be other problems that i cannot say because i do not know the version wordpress your using or the the theme and version you are using.

the image options has been changed now predefined values and can be selected with a check box. if there are any other image formats people feel that need to be added then let me know and i will look into adding them.

uploader privileges should be sorted now so i will mark this as resolved

i have released an update where it sorts for when members only is set to know it can track by ip. in a future release which i hope will be the next release i will add where even if it is set to members only you can allow for the guest to be tracked by ip and members of the site that are logged in can be tracked by passkey. also one thing is when you update to the latest release i would go to the folder in the plugin for the announce and scrape and copy them over to your theme folder to make sure they get replaced because they have been updated. i know that can be a bit time consuming but at the moment the announce and scrape being outside of the plugin is last on my list to sort but in a later release i will see about getting it back into the plugin folder.

From what I can gather on the free WordPress blogs they do not support plugins which are not installed default. You either have to upgrade to the paid version to be able to install any plugin you want or pay for hosting elsewhere. There may be free hosts out there that the plugin would run on but I would not do it because they would shut your site down. On most free host and some shared hosts they have in the TOS that bittorrent sites are not allowed because the resources that some torrents sites use would put a burden on the server which is probably already overloaded from other sites they put on that server. Also another problem you may run into with some free host and even some shared host is their settings for php. At the moment somethings in your hosting need to be turned off like SecFilterEngine and safe mode. There may be a couple other things but those are the two things that i know for certain will cause problems.

what do you mean you update them manually for them to be able to transfer? your client should update the tracker on every announce which is normally every 30 minutes or so depending on the setting in the admin panel. peers are added to the peers table when you start a torrent and should be deleted when you stop the torrent. the passkey feature can only be used with the members only function because it adds a passkey for each member, maybe in a future release i can sort something where it works for guest instead of it using ip. in the latest release i have update the code a bit better to choose between ip tracking or passkey tracking. if you are wanting to track torrents and upload and download then making people sign up and using passkey is normally the best way to go, a lot of times it is easier for the user because ip changes for some users who like to use seedboxes. as for lets say private torrents then that will also come in the future because it will require a bit more. in order for a torrent to be private then dht would need blocking on upload and a few other things like a friend modification which would only allow certain people to access that file, even locking the torrent post with the wordpress password feature would work a bit. all i can say at them moment is the plugin is going to be more for people who want to run a site a bit more open until it gets out of beta phase. there is a few more things i need to add, sort out and test before i can add some type of plugin system which would allow to add more features.

just an update on this post we did finally get things sorted in the last release for the host. he did have to contact his host though and ask them to disable a php setting which they did but also there was a few problems in the code which needed sorting. hopefully after he does some more test he will be able to let people know of any other problems he may be running into. also i cannot guarantee that this plugin will work on every host or setup because what works for one person may not work for the other and the best thing is to have a vps or dedicated server so you are not limited to what the host decides is the best settings.

ok thank you for letting me know. i have into any problems in firefox with the javascript on the theme i am using but i do know for some reason on the normal wordpress theme somethings do not work like they should. for example on the twenty eleven theme i think it is on upload the popup does not show but on the theme i am using to develop which is suffusion it does. also on internet explorer a lot of things will not look the best. i do look in other browsers but do my check my coding in firefox and in other browsers like chrome and opera it mostly looks like it should almost identical to firefox but in ie microsoft likes to do their own thing. i will have a look at the issue and see if i can create the same problem you have and get back to you on it.

Thanks for letting me know about the problem I will check into the situation and see why they may not be updating.
