I am also unable to update WordFence on our shared reseller hosting at Antagonist (NL) which is one of the best hosting providers in our country. It all worked without problems up until WF version 7.1.11, the problems started with websites crashing and not coming back online from WF version 7.1.12. Nothing had changed from the hosting side of things or the websites configuration.
At that time all sites were running on the stable PHP version 7.1 and we have configured on all our 150+ WordFence installations that the Scan Scheduling is disabled and that the Live Traffic Logging is off. So that does not solve the problem.
Furthermore, these settings cannot be configured until after you have activated the plugin which takes down the site immediately. So right now I am also hoping that there will be an update reverting some of the heavy changes that have been introduced in the version update from 7.1.11 to 7.1.12 which are clearly causing problems.
I have tried to update the plugin from version 7.1.11 to 7.1.17 on a site that we just launched a couple of days ago but it also crashed immediately with high spikes in resource usage hitting the hosting limits.
We currently have 144 paid premium version keys and it would be a shame and a lot of work if we would have to implement a different security solution.
Best regards,
Ernst JansenFor one of my clients I am hosting and maintaining 12 similar websites that are based on a custom built theme with only Wordfence running as a plugin. Last Wednesday I updated 6 of the websites Wordfence installs to version 7.1.11 without any problems. When I did the same yesterday upgrading to the current version 7.1.12 the site went down immediately and when looking at the site resources I saw an enourmous spike in database activity. I rolled back the update from a backup to 7.1.11 and everything is alright again. I hope the Wordfence team will address this severe problem/ bug and I will wait for the next version before trying again.
Hi Evan,
Thank you for implementing a fix for the issue, I just updated your plugin and checked the media library in grid layout. Everything is working out perfectly now and the WP Ajax responses are valid.
Now all I have left to do is throw some rating stars your way for having developed the best responsive timeline plugin currently out there and supporting it like a boss ??
Kind regards,
ErnstI have encountered the same problem after updating the plugin on one of my sites. Now I’m also unable to create a backup due to the same error as Zilla described.
I hope the developer comes up with a quick patch in a couple of days, for now I’ll keep my other sites running at the latest backup-capable version.
