Actually… just checked the post I did as a sample with the gallery, and it too has the comment box where it didn’t before! That was my issue with it… I wanted peeps to be able to comment on pics! So, never mind!!!haha It’s already done!!!!!!! I CAN SLEEP AGAIN!haha

OMG!!!! I just made TWO fixes!!!! It was kind of by accident, so don’t know if that counts!!!!haha

I had copied the WP default comments.php file into my own template file, and at first… nada… then for some reason, I tried another code in the comments.php file, and nada… so, I RE-input the default template’s and VOILA! The text box is now there ON SINGLE AND REGULAR PAGES!!!!! WAAAHHOOO!!! I did keep the pop ups on the home page, just for visitors convenience… but I’m SOOOO stoked the other pages finally work and can have comments now!!! (can you tell I’m excited?!haha)

Now… if I could just fix the sub-page for the gallery shots!!!! Guess that’s next on the list!! ??

Thank you SO much Quique!!!! And, simonsopinion, I hope you got all your errors to work too!!!!

Quique… any knowledge of this new media gallery??haha

OH, by the way… I did just go with the simple tags and removed the relatedlinks plugin. Works much better! ??

Ok… I’ve copied the default theme’s single page code… and it does do the paragraph that includes “leave a reply”, BUT… here’s the code snippet. You’ll see that it’s got an http value and all it does when you click it, is keep it on that page, but the url reflects http:…../…/blah#respond in the address bar. I tried putting the pop up code in there, like I did in my header, but it must be a different code, because it wasn’t even a working link when I tried that. Any suggestions??? My blog again is: https://www.ez-entertainment.net/blog/

    You can <a href="#respond">leave a response</a>, or <a href="<?php trackback_url(); ?>" rel="trackback">trackback</a> from your own site.

I was using “RelatedPosts” found HERE

I can try and change it to Simple Tags if you think that will help. Also, my template was already google enhanced, so all I had to do was copy over their code with my own, so I didn’t change any placement of it…

    AAAARRRGGHHH! This is SO frustrating!!!

I’ll check your code above against mine and see any differences.

Gonna take an ‘eye break’ and I’ll be back in a few to let you know if I’ve had an epiphany!haha (doubtful!!!haha)

    Thanks!!!

    Didn’t work for me ??

I think it may be because I’ve got the ‘related posts’ and a google ad, maybe they interfere with where I’m supposed to put your code. When I tried it, it took out both related posts and the google ad…. so, maybe it’s supposed to go somewhere else…??? I have NO clue!!!haha If you do though… I’m ALL EARS!!!!!!!

    Thanks!!!

I didn’t touch my theme folder though when I upgraded, so that’s why it doesn’t make sense to me… ?? I DID adjust the header in my theme just so it would at least allow pop up comments on the index page, but that’s all I did. That was only because I wasn’t able to click the comment link on any page anymore and get a reply box. It just takes me to the post page. And, on those pages, I don’t even have an option for a comment.

Here’s what I finally had to do. Had to go into my php-admin and make sure to tick read, write, etc… until it showed 777 in the permissions box. Then I had to make a folder called “uploads” in my wp-content folder, just make sure when you enter the wp-content/uploads you don’t put a / at the end of it!! Otherwise it will do a // in your error message url. I also ticked the “use lagacy hacks” in the WP-> Misc. Admin. Screen, even though I have NO CLUE what that’s for… but after I made these changes, it all worked, so I left it!!!haha

So, I can now upload my images, BUT… there is no option to comment! No pretty comment box like Matt has, no link, nada! When you click a thumbnail to see the larger version, it changes to an attachment url id, which I think it the reason it won’t take comments… ??? I dunno… just guessing. I’ve spent WAY too much time sorting all this out… my eyes are crossing and I just want it to be “right”!!! ??

So you are getting the single page post comments working then, huh? Just not the ‘pages’? Well… you’re two up on me!!!haha I can’t get the post page OR a regular page showing comments. Only the index page. This BITES!!! I’m SICK to death of sorting through code, and just wish someone could clue us in on a fix for this!!!

Isn’t it a bit pointless to have a blog and NOT be able to let people comment???!!!! uugghhh… soooo tired of trying to work this out!

Surely, there’s some PHP wiz out there that can help us two desperate souls here… ???????? PLEEEEEEAAASE???!!!

Well, I did find another thread that did help at least for the home page posts… (https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/151927?replies=8) I adjusted the header in my theme folder, that at least gives me the pop up comment box, but I still don’t have a comment option on the single page. I’ve checked the codes on both “page” and “single” in my theme, and they both look correct and I didn’t change the theme at all when I upgraded anyway.
I also have the same settings as you have above… I don’t have it that mod must approve or they must be registered members, but there’s nothing on that admin dashboard page you could do to ‘fix’ this one.

    I’m at a loss…

Well, I’ve been pulling my hair out, so I went to my php-admin, but I’m illiterate with databases! So, I’ve made a web page with what the “comments” table had on it… maybe it will help someone guide me to a fix. ?? I’m also concerned with the error message at the bottom (in red).

If anyone could possibly check out my blog and give me some suggestions, I’d luv ya forever!!! ??

Seriously though, I’m just really wanting to work on editing my current posts w/the new gallery…but, don’t want to do that until my comment problem is fixed.

    Thanks!!
