An automatically installed update of Wordfence early this morning seems to have both re-enabled the plugin and fixed the problem. Thanks.

Ah, I realize that it’s the Galleryview plugin extension for NextGEN that’s doing it. And it hasn’t been supported for some time. I’ve switched plugin extensions.

One problem site was fixed by deleting the plugin, deactivating all other plugins, downloading the and activating the plugin, and then activating all the other plugins.
This process did not fix 2 of my sites, and I am unable to use the WP Security plugin.
I can’t find a common factor — different themes (both used by other successfully updated sites, different hosting companies,and any plugins they share are also shared by successfully updated sites.
FWIW, today I upgraded to 2.0 on 1 website, and the homepage slideshow quit working. (Five other websites with NextGen were updated earlier with no problems.) I deactivated all the plugins except NextGen and the plugin began working. After reactivating each plugin, the 2.0 homepage slideshow is still working.
I’m having the same problem. The https is fine in Safari, Firefox, EI and Opera, but not in Chrome. Windows 7.
