In reply to: ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE when accessing password-protected pageDitto, my two sites working fine now, with no change made by me. Will update this thread if I get any details as to what GD did.

In reply to: ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE when accessing password-protected pageHost confirms it’s a security block issue, and is investigating further. Also it turns out I’m using a host that resells GoDaddy in case this pops up for someone else down the road.
Will update here with details once resolved.

In reply to: ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE on password protected pageI did the same with my provider (who it turns out is actually reselling GD) and they dug deeper and found it’s mod_security and are investigating further. Will update with whatever they tell me on my similar thread when resolved.

In reply to: ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE on password protected pageSame for my issue, no cache plugins.
Also noticed I get same error when I enter an incorrect password. So that GoDaddy issue of redirecting to a different IP address sounds quite interesting, though I am with a different provider.

In reply to: ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE when accessing password-protected pageCreating a new public post works fine. When I then add a password to that post, same behaviour. (prompted for password, and when I enter ANY password and submit it gives the ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE error.)

In reply to: ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE when accessing password-protected pageAdded: hosting provider (Racknine) dashboard showed that WP3.5 installed, even though my installs have been auto-updating and both show 4.0.1.
- Updated dashboard using option that says I manually updated it (so it wouldn’t complain that I was out of date). Did not fix problem.
- Reinstalled 4.0.1 from within WP updates page. Did not fix problem.
Hosting provider support person checked files on server, agreed that nothing appeared to have changed in months except some PDFs that I personally FTPed (this is a weekly activity).

In reply to: Deleting post redirects to root folder but WP site is not at rootThanks for the quick reply.
When I created an .htaccess file while troubleshooting this problem a few days ago, it was visible when uploaded to both the root and the toronto subdirectory. I deleted those, but it tells me my FTP software (FileZilla) is not hiding it from me.
Thanks for the clarification of the meaning of that wp-config line as well! Too bad that’s not it, but at least that’s one more item that is not of concern.

In reply to: Deleting post redirects to root folder but WP site is not at rootThank you again for the suggestions. There is no .htaccess in either the root or under the toronto directory.
In the wp-config, these lines exist and they strike me as suspicious. Would you suggest editing these to add “toronto” on that final slash?
/** Absolute path to the WordPress directory. */ if ( !defined('ABSPATH') ) define('ABSPATH', dirname(__FILE__) . '/');

In reply to: Deleting post redirects to root folder but WP site is not at rootThanks for the reply. Yes, the URLs match on that page. Any thoughts on what else I can check?
