In reply to: [Seriously Simple Podcasting] File Rewrites for ApacheYour website works fine for me on Safari, on my laptop and my iPhone.
Our website doesn’t work for Safari or Chrome, both laptop or iPhone. I do wonder about the https, because Chrome default adds it on…
I did see the troubleshooting page. The first three points are not relevant here, and the last resort is the only thing that works! Perhaps I will just have to live without those stats…

In reply to: [Seriously Simple Podcasting] WordPress Tag for EpisodeHi @psykro,
1. I have left the defaults and not checked any of those boxes. So “Podcast post types” has nothing checked.
2. Podcast -> Add New
Hope that helps!
Thanks,

In reply to: [Seriously Simple Podcasting] WordPress Tag for EpisodeDear @podcastmotor,
Yes, this is precisely the problem I am describing. I take it this means it is still an open problem and has not been resolved yet?
Best wishes,

In reply to: [Seriously Simple Stats] Problem with 3 months stats dataDear @podcastmotor,
Unfortunately, no I don’t think I can give you admin access.
I can confirm, however, that today (May 1) I do not have the issue. Hence, I am fairly certain if you can spoof the date to April 30, you should be able to see the same problem.
Best wishes,

In reply to: [Seriously Simple Stats] Problem with 3 months stats dataThis seems like a problem for me too.
This appears to be a problem in PHP, because you are using “-1 MONTH” in your code of class-ssp-stats.php. Hence, it is a problem in the end of a month like today.

In reply to: Built-in footnote/endnote supportAnother note, it looks like the WordPress blog that reported the introduction of markdown praises the inclusion of footnoting. So, it looks like my request is not quite a “niche requirement”.
Forum: Requests and Feedback
In reply to: Built-in footnote/endnote supportInterestingly enough, footnotes ARE built into WordPress.com, via its Markdown integration. Namely, if you enable Markdown, you can write something like the following:
I have more [^1] to say up here. [^1]: To say down here.
This will insert footnotes into the WP page.
So, I suppose there are two ways of reading this. First, no longer do we need a plugin to support footnotes OOTB. Second, WP has setup an issue where you can insert footnotes via Markdown (which, to be honest, you could’ve manually done so via what they call page jumps), but no automated manner.
I’m a bit torn here. Coming from a coding background, I have no problem coding things in HTML or Markdown. But to instruct a non-techy to do the same is a bit harder.
Forum: Requests and Feedback
In reply to: Built-in footnote/endnote supportOf course WordPress should not be all things for all people. But in any product, things are put on a balance as to whether or not they are valuable to a large enough percentage of users to justify its implementation. Like why have categories AND tags, or summaries, or featured images? Of those items, I only use tags…and I bet you, most people are confused with the two features (tags vs categories).
My point is more a business argument for WordPress. You build in features that make the most sense to bring in the users you would love to have. Blogging is no longer only for you to tell your friends about your vacation… Academics, Journalists, Tech Reviewers are all trying to use blogs to report on information that needs citations. You build it into the product and (1) you bring a useful feature to WordPress.com and (2) standardize a process that everybody tries to hack into their own installs (hence third party snaffoos like LiveWriter).

In reply to: MultiSite Domain Not Logging InI see. Good to know. ??
Forum: Networking WordPress
In reply to: MultiSite Domain Not Logging InWait, is adding a *.primary.com subdomain a DNS change? I didn’t think so. If so… then yah, I was putting the cart in front of the horse!
Forum: Networking WordPress
In reply to: MultiSite Domain Not Logging InYes, I’m aware of that. Originally, I had stated that secondary.primary.com did not work without the mapping plugin. Then you said:
And should redirect if you’re using the plugin I mentioned.
So, I enabled the plugin and tested that too… though wasn’t sure why that would make any difference. And it didn’t (of course).
So, to go back. The unmapped site (secondary.primary.com) did not work. In other words, you get no 404 or any other error message… you simply got the browsers default “server not found” message.
NOW… a day after I enabled all the subdomain stuff… it seems to work. So I guess the problem was I had to wait some time. Which I find weird because I thought that it would automatically take (since I didn’t think it was a DNS change).
Thanks for the help. Sorry for the confusion. We are now happy with glee, both primary.com and secondary.com. ??

In reply to: MultiSite Domain Not Logging InWell, I didn’t have activate the MU Domain Mapping plugin, so went ahead and did that. I also added a mapping of secondary.com to id 5 (the site ID of secondary.primary.com). Going to secondary.com redirects me to secondary.primary.com and I get the same error as before. It’s not even a 404… it’s as though the server doesn’t exist.

In reply to: MultiSite Domain Not Logging InSo I just deleted that the site secondary.com. Then, I recreated it in Sites > Add New secondary.primary.com and, in my CPanel, add a * subdomain.
Now, when I hit secondary.primary.com, I get a server not found error message. Of course, https://www.secondary.primary.com doesn’t work either. ;/

In reply to: MultiSite Domain Not Logging Inprimary.com has always worked and continues to work today both as a public site and in logging in.
secondary.com was never an independent site so, only after setting it to the same server as primary.com did I enable multisite functionality. After doing so, I have only ever been able to view it as a public site; I have never been able to log into it.
I did not use any plugin to map them. I merely followed the instructions here:
