The problem doesn’t appear to be plugin related. I was able to pinpoint the ShipStation server not updating WC. That server resides on IP 18.211.231.40. All other requests from their other servers update orders fine. 18.211.231.40 won’t even pull the thumbnail images on the order screen on ShipStation’s website. I can see the connects from 18.211.231.40 in the logs but it appears as if they’re empty requests not blocked by any security plugin.

Thank you for your response and concern. At this point I’m not going to invest anymore time in trying to resolve the matter. Our site has worked fine since removing the SG Plugin and am content with that. Anyway, as I noted upthread, the problem only occurs after days which means replicating the problem would be difficult. This leads me to believe the size of the cache must grow rather large and causes the timeout errors like the example posted above. That’s why I previously asked about scheduling a cache flush or some sort of cache size control. But after further consideration, we were not confident that would prevent the problem from occurring again especially if we had a surge of traffic which we expect later this year.

Other than the issues with this plugin (seems isolated to a few of us), and support we received from SG (not you or the plugin team but SG hosting support) regarding this matter, we’re happy. Maybe in the future we will try the plugin again if it has built-in features to limit the size of the cache, scheduled dumps, etc. Having hosted with many other top companies, SG continues to make improvements (investments) that benefit us customers and for that SG should be commended. In order for us to further investigate the reported issue, we would need a way to recreate it on our end.

Since this is on a live site, the only way to reproduce the email errors would be to not flush the SG Optimizer cache for days which would have subjected our customers to these errors. Obviously this is not acceptable. However, you may reference cases we created with SG Support, which would have allowed them to recreate the problem. Those chat sessions are 8296036 and 8305720.

I must say I was underwhelmed by SG’s support’s response to the cases noted above. They seemed more concerned about redirecting blame for the email errors onto other plugins instead of recreating/confirming our problem.

Removing the SG Optimizer plugin fully resolved our email error problem, and we have no intent to install your plugin again. Regardless, I hope the info I provided will help you to fix this error so that other users don’t experience the same grief as we did.

Update:

Disabling the new checkout experience results in normal/expected email generation (no duplicates).

If emails are not sent with default payment methods, the issue is likely caused by a conflict with your theme or with another plugin.

This website is hosted with SiteGround. I suspect the issue is being caused by the SG Optimizer plugin. Clearing the SG Optimizer plugin cache, and also the dynamic and memcached cache on SG’s backend, restored email functionality. This will require additional investigation on my part, though I now believe SiteGround’s cache is responsible for the problem. Thanks for your replies and I will mark this issue as resolved.

This is also happening on credit card payments as well. WP SMTP reports the following error:

The test email sent via the WP SMTP plugin works fine. I’m unable to use WC to manually send invoice (new order) notifications to customers who just placed an order. It’s timing out and generating the same error as above, though WP Mail Logging notes the email has been sent.

The order numbers/order success pages, which are being crawled by Gbot, are generated by Woocommerce core and requires further attention.

We are experiencing this problem as well. Check your traffic logs and you may find Gbot is crawling these URLs and hopefully not indexing them. In the short-term, make sure your order success pages have meta noindex present. Otherwise, Google may crawl and index so many of these pages that it harms the search ranking of your entire website.

In our case, the URLs Google is crawling are missing the trailing slash /checkout/order-received/XXXXX and are 301ed to the correct format /checkout/order-received/XXXXX/ with the ending slash.

We are using PayPal standard and Stripe with no subscriptions.

It’s important to note most of the order numbers Google is crawling and trying to index are years old. I’m trying to figure out where the URL is being leeched out at, but I’ve found no public internal linking or external linking to these pages as of yet. I wonder if somehow the saved order in created accounts is responsible for this and/or if Gbot is crawling order success emails found in Gmail accounts or revealed from using Chrome (surely all critical privacy concerns).

Look in the _wc_admin_notes table for a row with the name wc-update-db-reminder. In the “status” area change it to be actioned and update. Please let us know if this resolves your problem. Have a blessed day.

We rolled back to V 5.5.0 so our product rankings in Google would not crash from the bloat/slow page speeds. It’s bad enough with Google ranking so many crowded Amazon/Chinese seller products pages without giving Google another reason to demote a non-Chinese affiliated business.

These JS files are unnecessary bloat on product pages which do not have payment buttons. I have downgraded to Stripe V 5.5.0 plugin to resolve the issue.
