In reply to: Wp-Cron keeps asking to be updatedErrrr, I see that WP-CRON is obsolete above version 2.1 of WordPress. So I figure I don’t need it any more, because I am running 3.0.1 .
I can also see actual CRON jobs with the CRON-GUI plugin, of which several seem to indeed work fine (WP-version check, Plugin-update, etc…)
Can anyone confirm this? I cannot find any documentation on this….
Update: after a reload of the page on my mobile, the links DO work. I’d like to eliminate the necessity for this. So, any help is still very much appreciated….

In reply to: Upgrading to 2.8.5Hmm, all fine and well, but the auto upgrade does NOT work. It used to work fine, but it doesn’t now.
I have tested this on 6 different blogs, with the default theme switched on AND plugins disabled. No luck.
The upgrade screen tells me it’s “done” with two notifications that it downloaded the .zip file. And that’s the end of it.
It is a real pity, because auto-update beats the pants out of a manual one. It’s a real drag that is isn’t working.

In reply to: RSS Widget not working since 2.7Hmm, it’s all very weird. I had this problem too, and I tried to change the feed URL from “rss2” to “atom”. That worked. After a while, that didn’t work any more, and I changed it back to “rss”.
Maybe anyone sees the culprit after this addition?
Cheers,
Carlo

In reply to: Google AJAX Translation – Won’t translate!Hi,
There are some real cracks reading this forum, so I am going to dare this question: On two sites I am maintaining, I can see translator buttons, but they do not function. I am unable to find the proper lines to adjust in the code for page.php and single.php. Maybe someone could help me out?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance and my apologies if I asked a silly question.
Cheers,
Carlo

In reply to: Fusion: Internet Explorer 7 errorI have a status update: I upgraded WordPress to 2.8 (snazzy, very snazzy…) and all is fine. I have no clue why, but my problems are gone.

In reply to: Fusion: Internet Explorer 7 errorOkay, I did it. I demolished all the widgets from the site and presto! It validates with flying colours. But after I put the fist widget back – even a native theme-one which I can’t have screwed up myself, the validation errors re-appear.
Apparently, there is something wrong with the widget-loop-thingy that is invoked after one uses a widget in the theme. Shame, bummer, but hey, such is life for a code-oblivious regular like me.
Thanks everyone for the input. It’s Friday, the beer calls….

In reply to: Fusion: Internet Explorer 7 errorHmm, yeah, I get it. I have been playing with that already and will do so more until I find the culprit. The game is afoot, as Sherlock used to say.
Thanks too. You are a bunch of clever guys…. ??

In reply to: Fusion: Internet Explorer 7 errorHello 11worth,
I see what you mean. I only wished I could hack PHP code, which I can’t. I was actually banking on the Theme to contain correct syntax. I’ll try the widget thing first, to see if there are any faults in there that I made, but that is about the extent of what I am capable of.
Thanks for your help. It is eye-opening, so to speak.
Cheers,
Carlo

In reply to: Install screen instead of login screen after updateI found it. Turns out, that I missed to set the $table_prefix correctly in the config.php file. This turned out to be the one thing different with my other installations.

In reply to: All My Content Has DisappearedMan, I have the same problem. All my content has gone, of three 2.5.1 sites. What can I do? I have no idea how to do a roll back, and why does this happen? The sites were running perfectly?
