    Hi,

I may have solved my own problem.

It turns out, in MLA, you separate the XMP namespace from the field name with a dot.

So, I have a content template for the new IPTC Alt Text (Accessibility) field that looks like so: template:([+xmp:Iptc4xmpCore.AltTextAccessibility+]) and it appears to be working.

For Extended Description (Accessibility) I have : template:([+xmp:Iptc4xmpCore.ExtDescrAccessibility+])

This is great news. Any WordPress user who needs to map contents of the new IPTC fields into pages or posts can use your plugin. Issue solved! (At least this part of the issue. Disabled people still need to be able to access the data. I’m not really qualified to speak to that half of the equation.)

That sounds like a good plan. I’ll give that a try. Ever so cautiously ??

No effect. I tried changing the value in that CSS as it originally was and I didn’t see any change one way or the other.

There is a block of CSS from the parent theme style.css in my child style.css, with some other rules changed. That particular one was not. It is just as it was in the parent. I don’t think that would be meaningful, but I pass it on in any case.

This might be one of those annoying “not quite responsive” answers, but of course, that won’t stop me from butting in ??

AFAIK, the only way to change the filename is to actually change it, prior to uploading. If you had the string you want in the Title/Object name field (or any field, really) it would be very easy to do in bulk in a GUI environment in Photo Mechanic and probably in ExifTool (CLI) as well. (I think. I’ve never actually done it in ExifTool)

Equally easy to go in the other direction – filename to whatever field.

WordPress, by default, maps the IPTC “Headline” field to its own “Title” field. So, again, super easy prior to upload to copy the base of the filename or the contents of Title/Object Name to Headline, and from there WordPress would take it the (WordPress) Title. And, of course, MLA can map stuff with great flexibility post-upload.

(If I ever get past the sprawling opus on keywording that I’m doing now, a video and/or post on doing that very thing is near the top of my editorial calendar for my own blog.)

However, to isolate one value from one of the keywords fields (There are two, sometimes three possibilities) doesn’t sound easy at all. My inclination would be to visit the ExifTool forum and ask around. If it’s possible at all, that would be the tool (pre-upload) that might be able. The people on the ExifTool forum are wonderfully helpful.

All that said, MLA’s developer, who is also wonderfully helpful, may actually have the answer you really want at his fingertips.

    Good luck.

    Doh.

    You’re right. Dumb assumption.

    Thanks!

Wouldn’t anything on index.php affect my static front page, as well?

Hmmm. Assumption is the mother of all…..

I’ll go give it a try. I’ll let you know.

OK. I was a little concerned about intruding there.

I should offer to help out anyway, so that sounds like a plan. Two birds. Thanks!

The issue in my case turned out to be that the rating wasn’t relly selected.

If you look on the page on Gravatar where you manage email addresses. There should be a photo by each email address. If not, click through to the image page. There, you’ll see (or at least I did) your image with possible ratings. The “G” rating displays a thick black rule, as if to signify that it’s selected by default. But it isn’t! If you actually click on the ratings, you’ll see that when selected for real, they’re bordered in color.

No mea culpa. It’s a dumb UX mistake.

@mattmiklas, I don’t think this is your issue. @nowsathshereef, it might be yours. Hope this helps somebody in the future.
