In reply to: Trying to source a cyber attack to my wordpress – LinuxaThanks. I just filed it there. I am concerned because I need the contact inform of the abuser. If I do have to get the hacker network to take them down, it would probably take wordpress.com down – so they need to respond.

In reply to: Trying to source a cyber attack to my wordpress – LinuxaThe attack was from a wordpress.com site to my *.org site. I tried to post in wordpress.com page and they rejected it, saying it should be in the *.org forum. WordPress.com should accept it. They are the ones who would get it on the counter attack.

In reply to: Trying to source a cyber attack to my wordpress – LinuxaWARNING – Hey, anybody at WordPress read these? If we can’t get an answer, whoever or wordpress.com did this to our system is looking for a return hack. Help@
We had a cyber attack launched on our system from [See above link]. It appears to have come from a radical Muslim group. They modified our index.php file, changed the password, removed the akismet spam filter and loaded some 500 pieces of spam. The site is back up now, but it took lots of work.
Our site is now moved to a new IP and server on the same host. A stronger password is used now. The MySQL is upgraded to Version 6.x. The WordPress is now on 3.1, but we plan to upgrade to the latest – that’s why the MySQL was upgraded first.
I’m reading all the Codex stuff on this – lots of good stuff there.
You MUST take [See above link] down – that’s the site that launched the attack. You may find a counterattack launched on that site if they do not compensate for their damage here. Any info on their address or source you can give would protect you as we continue in this.
Thanks

In reply to: Export/ImportYep – PHP had to go version 4 to 5. I did find another export I did a week ago for my test site that was just under 2m and used that. Not sure why the importer stops at 2M. Not good.
Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: export/import postingsI tried that – wordpress to wordpress – and it seemed to work fine. categories are still there with the posts. Looks great. I’ll see what happens when I beat it harder. Thx.

In reply to: WordPress/TinyMCL Editor with serious problem?Good question – I tried to get it up on another computer but the monitor won’t come up there. Also trying to bet it up on FireFox but ran into a password problem there. My main system remembers the password. I’ hit in again tomorrow when my brain is not so tired.

In reply to: WordPress/TinyMCL Editor with serious problem?Nope, still jumps back to start after about 20 seconds. wp-config file now:
<?php
// ** MySQL settings ** //

define(‘DB_USER’, ‘newworld_newworl’); // Your MySQL username
define(‘DB_PASSWORD’, ‘XXXXXXXX’); // …and password

define(‘CONCATENATE_SCRIPTS’, false);
define(‘DB_CHARSET’, ‘utf8’);
define(‘DB_COLLATE’, ”);// You can have multiple installations in one database if you give each a unique prefix
$table_prefix = ‘wp_’; // Only numbers, letters, and underscores please!// Change this to localize WordPress. A corresponding MO file for the
// chosen language must be installed to wp-content/languages.
// For example, install de.mo to wp-content/languages and set WPLANG to ‘de’
// to enable German language support.
define (‘WPLANG’, ”);/* That’s all, stop editing! Happy blogging. */

In reply to: WordPress/TinyMCL Editor with serious problem?Thanks for replying. I deactivated the plugins (only two, the ask.. spamm catcher and the one that backs up the db). That didn’t help. I went to the default theme, and that diidn’t help. I have two 3.0 blogs on different domains, and both do it. Windows 7. I see several posts that mention this problem, but you’re the first that even replied to any but some very old entries. Here’s one with a recent post I’m trying to repair. I tried on it pasting the code for the posting from a web page in Dreamweaver.
https://www.creatingnewworlds.org/wordpress
My other one is at:
https://www.netadventures.biz/wordpress
Both have the problem.
I did try adding a line of code in wp-config to slow down the autosave, thinking that was interferring. No luck.Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Tags not working from Tag cloud – returns 404Finally – it’s working now. I followed your directions and on the third time I did the directions it started working.

In reply to: Tags not working from Tag cloud – returns 404Putting the short .htaccess file in the wordpress folder and clicking “save changes” on the permalinks page only caused both category links and tag links to fail. Putting the long file back in enables category links only to work. A typical link URL on the fail on the short file might be:
https://www.creatingnewworlds.org/wordpress/tag/church/
or
https://www.creatingnewworlds.org/wordpress/category/church/and only the long file only this one fails:
