    Mattias,

Done. I hope the information is helpful. Let me know if you need anything else.

    Thank you,

    Mattias,

Sorry for the delayed response. I was able to reinstall the older version successfully; thank you for the link.

In regards to setting up a php_info() file, I really have not idea what that is but I would happily help out if you could offer some more instruction. Website creator is definitely not my dayjob but I am a quick learner:)

I deleted the Advance Browser Check plugin in via FTP to get site working again, but I would really love to work out this kink. The older version worked so well for me. I manage a non-profit site, njbreastfeeding.org, and many healthcare workers try to access the site from our local hospitals via ie7 and the tailored message helps to clarify things (especially when they are attempting to register for our conference).

    Mattias,

Thank you for the quick response. I updated the hosting to PHP 5.4 and installed and activated but now my website is gone and I receive this message when attempting to access the site, https://www.thelactationlady.com :

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING, expecting T_CONSTANT_ENCAPSED_STRING or ‘(‘ in /home/content/11/2977511/html/wp-content/plugins/advanced-browser-check/abc-core.php on line 5

    Please help,

    Casi

Thank you both for your replies. Esmi, is it possible this is just a hosting problem? I have gotten clean scans via sucuri, unmaskparasites, and Google checks (all claim site is safe) and the redirects are inconsistent and only on mobile devices? I had done a lot of searching prior to posting and have attempted to do all the suggestions but if there is some hidden minutiae of code, I certainly do not have the background or training to locate it. It seems others have had similar issues but no simple solution could be found.

So if it is determined that this is not a hosting issue is my only recourse hiring someone who can fine comb all the code and close any backdoors? Or could I close it all down and reopen (money is an issue for the non-profit but my time is free)?

Thank you for any feedback you offer,

Please excuse the typos in the above post.

    Esmi,

I spoke with a rep at Go Daddy and their response was, “We are aware of the issue, it is affecting lots of people, the sign on WP problem, and they are working on getting it resolved. We can’t give you a time frame, unfortunately.”

Hope the information will be helpful to others because I wasted a lot of work time trying to fix it myself. In the meantime people can use their iPhone/iPad apps.

    Have a good day,

Thank you, Esmi. I will do that. P.S. the app works on iPad too for those who need to access dashboard until this is resolved.

I will follow up if I get any response from my host, which is Go Daddy in case you are compiling a list.

    Esmi,

    Thank you.

I came across this inquiry, https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/cannot-access-wordpress-dashboard?replies=1 where the user was unable to log into dashboard but could access dashboard through iPhone. I just testing this and I can access dashboard through my WP app on my phone. What does that mean?

Esmi, I will try your suggestions and then follow up and post results. It may take me some time to figure out how to do these thing. I did reset the plugins folder and was still unable to access but I will work on the theme issue.

James, are you saying all users are unable to access their account dashboards and that this may be a just glitch with Word Press functionality? If so, that would be really good to know because trying to figure out how to change my change my theme or figuring out how to access phpMyAdmin will be a challenge for me.

    Thank you,

Thank you for your quick reply. Just to be clear, I am unable to access my dashboard or log into my admin page.

    1) I have deactivated all plugins following the directions below; unfortunately, it did not work. I had to reactivate the plugins. For now my only solace is that my site is still functioning and people can contact me if they need to.
Via FTP or your host’s file manager, navigate to the wp-contents folder (directory)
Via FTP or your host’s file manager, rename the folder “plugins” to “plugins.hold”
Login to your WordPress administration menus (/wp-admin)
Via FTP or your host’s file manager, rename “plugins.hold” back to “plugins”

    2) How do I switch back and forth between the default theme and the theme I use via FTP (it is important that I will be able to switch back if this solution does not work).

    3) I have uploaded all files via FTP transfer. How do I get a “fresh download” of my current version via FTP?

Word press has been very easy for me to navigate and I am probably not as savy as some of your other users, so please be patient with me and the more descriptive your instructions the better.

    Thank you

Esmi–I was so afraid to fiddle with the wp-config file–but I did it and then followed the instructions here, https://cyberinnovation.com/wordpress/moving-a-wordpress-website-from-a-sub-directory-to-your-root-hosted-with-godaddy/ and it WORKED!

I feel like I just won the lottery–my site’s urls are finally where I wanted them.

I kept searching for a reason on why the general settings url change would not take–but I guess that did not matter.

    Thank you.
