Something strange though is the fact that the “Test email” from plugin settings is sending with the correct “From” name. However, the contact form (Custom contact forms redux) AND adding new WordPress users is still coming through with “WordPress’ from name.

In reply to: WordPress Site DownThanks for responding Shibby. Yes if the index.html file was added by this person then yes hacked is most likely same cause here. In fact, it looks identical to what your site looked like so Peg, I would recommend going down the path of cleaning your hacked site.

That is the page source code. It seems its just an index.html file in your root or something. Check via FTP and remove anything that says index.html

By default, WordPress multisite doesn’t add users to other sites just by visiting them. A plugin like Join my Multisite and Multisite User Management was created to achieve this. So from what you are saying, it sounds like you have a plugin that is causing this behavior
