Yes, he answered my questions. I now know what’s the downside of messing with the Transaction ID field. We’ll have to discuss internally and see what’s the best solution.

We’ve tried most of the plugins/addons he recommended and they don’t fit nicely with our WC-CRM system.

@anastas10s thank you for replying. We already have a CRM, thanks for your recommendation, but my question was related only to the WooCommerce order and Square payments.

My question was if it is possible to let our customers pay for the “same” WooCommerce order twice. Here’s the customer journey for what I’m referring to.

1. Customer creates a WC order (WC-001) with 2 products.
2. Customer pays for the WC order. Square processes the payment as it should.
3. The WC order (WC-001) is edited in WooCommerce admin, it is set back to pending payment then more products (requested by customer) are added. The WC order will have a new due amount to be paid.
   To clarify, they would be paying for the new products only, they won’t be paying for what they already paid. We add their previous paid amounts as a negative fee so the new due amount is exactly what they need to pay.
4. The WC order (WC-001) is sent to customer who tries to pays for it, but Square doesn’t allow it because it says the order is the same. While the WC order is the same – WC-001, the products, totals, are not.

How can we allow the customer to pay for the same WC-001 order (that has different amounts and products)?

Does clearing the Square transaction ID from the Transaction ID field in WooCommerce order edit screen then updating the order do anything? Would this be enough for Square not to see the order as paid and allow the customer to pay for it?

If this does work, does it break anything between Square and WooCommerce? Would there be any conflicts?

I will monitor the situation with the latest plugin version. I don’t have a solution for the checkboxes vs dropdown issue, but what about adding an option when editing the WordPress product to add it to a specific, existing automation? Basically adding all/some product variations? I don’t know if this would be better or not.

Sorry for the late reply. Since I posted the topic I created a staging copy (for different reasons, with Shopmagic latest version) and, today, I did some more testing on it. I saw the emails being sent both tests and new order emails.

I updated the plugin version on the live website and tested both features (send test email and new order email) and it seemed to be working.

As for your questions:

On the other hand, did I understand correctly, that ShopMagic doesn’t send any email to customers at all and failing silently, without any trace in outcomes?

Yes, that was correct. Whenever I tried to send a test email for a shopmagic automation, the send button would grey out but without an outcome. Nothing was tracked in the outcomes list. Whenever someone didn’t receive the automation there was no outcome for it.

Can you catch any other error messages in WooCommerce log when automation fires?

No, the only fatal error logs were the ones that I sent.

I don’t know how to replicate the issue since it seems to be happening randomly or it happened for those 2 days. What do you recommend? How should I track future issues?

Also, unrelated to this, after doing the tests, I saw how cumbersome it is to add multiple WC products in the Automation -> Filter -> Order Items. For example I had to hold Control then individually click each of these variations: https://i.imgur.com/7ePRCy2.png

Wouldn’t it be possible to switch from dropdown to checkbox if there are a lot of variations/products to be added?

I tried to test it out several times but I can’t seem to replicate the issue anymore. I’m sure it still exists in some weird payment instance, but for now, the topic can be closed.

Just reiterating the process.
1) WordPress admin creates the WooCommerce order on the back end. Adds the billing details and products. He then sets the WooCommerce order to “Pending Payment” status and emails the order details to the customer.

2) The customer receives the email and clicks on the “Pay now” button that redirects them to them to a ourwebsite.org/checkout/order-pay/19133/?pay_for_order=true&key=wc_order_vaRwD4ELMrkkD type of page.

Here is where the issue happens and not on the checkout page. Payments from the checkout page initiated by customers work just fine.

Since it’s on a live website I can’t change the theme and perform a test right now.

Thank you for your fast reply. Yes I agree it’s not the best solution and that it would be a workaround and not fix. However the owner of the website does not want to spend more resources on this issue for the time being.

I will add the redirects and test it out in the next couple of weeks (since the user SPAM creation happens at random times).

Thank you for the reply.
The WordPress Address URL and Site Address were pointing to the main website and not to the staging copy.

I tried updating that from the WordPress settings but for some reason it wouldn’t work (probably due to siteground staging copy limitations). So I updated the options from the theme’s functions.php file. Now the connecting process works and I am redirected to the correct staging copy.

As a fun fact, the WordPress admin settings -> general still display the live website instead of the staging copy. Again I guess it’s due to staging copy limitations.

Yes, I’ve been using the plugin but not at 100% potential, since I don’t use all the features. Thus, no review at the time.

I did mark it as working for the current wordpress version.
