Under Settings-Optimization-Styles I only see one option which is “Merge Styles –
Merge CSS files to reduce number of HTML requests”. Is there somewhere else where the “generate critical css” is located?

Just a quick follow up here – I was able to get a workaround after speaking with the Divi support staff. They mentioned if I disable the static CSS file generation, I should not come across the error. So far so good with the initial issue I was having, however now I am seeing issues with my GTmetrix scores. It seems like there are now browser caching issues which is negatively affecting the speed. I am also seeing split second issues when the website initially loads.

If anyone believes they might have a different workaround besides for disabled the static CSS file please let me know.

    Thanks!

    Hi Fred,

For now I am only using the Swift Performance plugin for caching. The Divi team gave me a way to fix the issue by disabling the “Static CSS File Generation”. However now I am seeing issues on Gtmetrix where there are browsing caching errors, which I believe are related to the CSS. Also when loading the site now, there are split second issues where it is not capturing the custom CSS but resolves once the page is fully loaded.

Any ideas on a fix without needing to disable the static CSS file?

    Thanks for the help

I am pretty certain it was a Swift plugin issue. The issue popped up again so I went ahead and disabled the plugin since I thought that plugin might have been the issue in the first place. All seems to be OK now but will take a look over the next day or so. Only downside is that now none of my pages are cached.

Yes exactly. And I have not edited that custom CSS in a while now, which is also why I am a bit confused. This problem has only been happening recently and not sure what is causing it.

Great thanks so much for letting me know. Do you recommend I delete the sitemap.xml in google search console and just keep the sitemap_index_xml? Or should I keep the original for the time being…I just dont want to screw anything up by deleting it.

    Thanks again!

Just a quick follow up – I think I figured out the problem. Seems to be an issue with the social sharing plugin I have installed. I played around with the settings on that and now it seems to be working again.

Appreciate the help on this. I will let you know if anything else comes up. Looking forward to the update!

Hi Philip – thanks so much for the quick reply.

There were no additional plugins or theme updates that I know of that would have happened last night. However regarding your second point – when I have a blog post as a “draft” instead of “published” the subtitles show up. However when I hit the publish button the subtitles are no longer there. Any thoughts on why that may be happening?

Really appreciate the help once again
