In reply to: [UpdraftPlus: WP Backup & Migration Plugin] Backup (Not finished)@laalpert1, I contacted HostGator again in the hopes that a different support specialist would be able to help. Again, I could not get them to apply the patch but they said that my cURL version differed from the one showing on the Site Health screen. Also, full disclosure, my PHP version is a little older because there were issues when I tried to upgrade. They are insisting I have to upgrade the PHP version but I have no confidence that doing that will make any difference with this problem and I doubt that they will apply the patch even if I do. I still do not understand why the UpdraftVault works for me while DropBox doesn’t. Sorry I cannot be of more help.

In reply to: [UpdraftPlus: WP Backup & Migration Plugin] Backup (Not finished)@jpegtobbe, that is some pretty amazing detective work! I am using multiple servers and have one dedicated server. It is the dedicated server that is not working. All of the other server cURL versions are
8.7.1 OpenSSL/1.1.1w but the dedicated server cURL version is 8.10.0 OpenSSL/1.1.1w. Thank you for providing the link to the patch. I will see if HostGator can apply it. But for today, I will use the UpdraftVault just to ensure I get a good backup. I don’t know why it works for that external storage and not Dropbox. So odd. Thanks again!Forum: Plugins

I guess I will risk it. I am glad that you got the backup. I discovered a really large log file that I deleted which I am hoping will also help. I have just never had an issue like this and have been using UpdraftPlus for eons.

Also, the site with the issues is on a dedicated server and I have tweaked the heck out of wp-config and still experiencing the problem unless I use UpdraftVault.

It went smooth as butter. So, it is definitely Dropbox specific or just clever marketing by Updraft. I haven’t yet decided what I will do in the long term but for now, I am pretty thrilled to have an external backup.

I am going to see if I can find a different remote storage option besides Dropbox and see if I can find some joy with that. Did you check the Updraft folder in wp-content? The files do not seem to match the existing backups. I remain perplexed.

My backup ran fine on Wednesday but I have tried repeatedly to run manual backups since and am met with the same issues. After many hours, I finally get an email saying that the backup attempt has finished, apparently unsuccessfully. I added set_time_limit(300); to my wp_config and in expert settings, I set the ‘split backups every’ option from 250MB to 100MB but still no joy. I disconnected and reconnected my Dropbox and tried running again (which is where I am now) but there are not even new files in my Dropbox account. I am not sure what else to try. I do see this error in the log multiple times but the status page is less than helpful. Any ideas?
