I can’t see the error you described (middle page & security error). The invoice is working and redirecting to normal paypal gateway.

You could change text string with many ways.
The easiest method is to install Codestyling plugin and then translate the desirable string to your liking.

Second, if the string cannot be translated, you could override the function which responsible for the string.

From your idea, I got Side Matter working perfectly by duplicating a filter to topic_content which default only applied to reply_content by the whitelist plugin.

I think you are right, this is a theme issue and not both of the plugins.

I’m using a customized theme from a custom skeleton wordpress theme and it does have a sidebar in forum topic pages. And after a small research, it turns out that Side Matter did worked but only to the replies and not to the lead topic; as shown in this screenshot.

I suspect there might be something different with the way the theme view bbPress handled lead topic’s post-content and the replies. But alas that complexity is beyond my limited knowledge, so any help to resolve it would be greatly appreciated.
