Ha, that’s awesome, @johnleblanc ! ??
499 response,
Speculation: firewall/.htaccess is blocking the client-side requests?
You might also check your server error logs to see if it provides any other info on what may be generating the errors. It’s possible they’re being caused by a plugin – the logs should provide a clue on which one(s).

Hi @velanche ,
When I click the “Jetpack” link on the left sidebar of my WP Dashboard for my web site, I get an error message, “cookie check failed.
f I click on the “Restore Connection” link on the upper right, the error repeatsHm, are you still seeing that? I just checked your connection here:
https://jptools.wordpress.com/debug/?url=https://www.velanche.com/
and all looks well.
That said, if you are, it’s an error that can affect a number of plugins. That error is generally caused by caching issues. Can you clear any caches you have on your site and/or check with your hosting provider if there is any server level cache that might need to be cleared, then try again?

Now, to the Social questions. I checked your connections and they look fine. I randomly checked a post:
...velanche-presents-urban-landscapes-25-06
and what I see isDetermined that this facebook connection (...) has been marked as skipped for this post
You can also see this in Facebook’s own debugger:
https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug
Okay, so. It sounds like you may be skipping posts for publication. Can you confirm you’re marking your posts like so:

Hi @johnleblanc ,
That IP seems to belong to Google Cloud:
https://dnschecker.org/ip-whois-lookup.php?query=34.127.82.255
Are you using any sort of plugin which may be ‘talking’ to Google?
I don’t think this is a bot/crawler, because the reverse DNS lookup:
host 34.127.82.255
Shows
255.82.127.34.bc.googleusercontent.com
. The …bc… bit means that it’s part of the Google Compute cluster.I read how a JetPack connection setting was modified
This is just changing how/how often Jetpack attempts to sync with your site. We can certainly do it for you, if you’ll let us know the Jetpack-connected URL of your site. ??

In reply to: [WP Super Cache] WP Super cache issueHi @jankuter
Great, glad to hear it. ??
We have a way to test Super Cache as well, if you want to give it a try:
https://github.com/Automattic/wp-super-cache/wiki/How-to-test-WP-Super-Cache-manually
in case you want to test for sure whether it’s working.
You can ask your host about the permissions on /wp-content if you’re not sure how to check.
made some changes.
If you get a minute, would you let us know what changes you made?

In reply to: [WP Super Cache] WP Super cache issueHi @jankuter ,
There’s a couple of things that have been known to cause this error.
First, which version of the plugin are you using?
Second, would you let us know the following:
In your wp-config.php, do you show the following entries, and if so, what do they contain?
define('WP_CACHE', 'true');
define('WPCACHEHOME', '');
Basically, what the error is saying is that it can’t find your WPCACHEHOME, which is normally ../
wp-content/wp-cache-config.php
Another thing to check is that your /wp-content directory is writeable.
We have further troubleshooting steps here:
https://github.com/Automattic/wp-super-cache/wiki/TroubleshootingLet us know what you find, and if we can help further.

Hi @pets99 ,
I took a look at your Jetpack connection and it’s returning this error:
XML-RPC is not responding correctly ( 520 )
That means you’re using Cloudflare, and it may be blocking some connections Jetpack needs to make in order to a) connect and then b) allow you to connect to Facebook.
Would you go through the steps here:
https://jetpack.com/support/getting-started-with-jetpack/configure-jetpack-cloudflare/
then try to reconnect Jetpack?
You can test your connection here:
https://jptools.wordpress.com/debug/?url=https://pets-99.com/
You want it to say
Everything looks great!
Let us kn ow how it goes, and if we can help further!

In reply to: [Jetpack - WP Security, Backup, Speed, & Growth] Jetpack Stats on DashboardHi @savingtalents ,
Do you have a URL we can take a look at? It’s possible the site isn’t properly connected to Jetpack, but we’ll need a link to the site to run some diagnostics.

Hi @setzfehler ,

Hi @setzfehler –
Once we get your connection issues resolved, we’ll be happy to move on to any other problems.
Since we’re now in the process of troubleshooting this via email, I’ll close this issue here in the forums. ??

In reply to: [Jetpack Social] Automatic Share to Social not workingHi @neiljordan ,
It’s frustrating, because your Jetpack connection is still showing an issue with accessing your XMLRPC file. Normally, whitelisting the IPs, as JS suggested, resolves this.
The error we see is this:
cURL error 28: Operation timed out after 5001 milliseconds with 0 bytes received
This particular error can means that the xmlrpc.php file or this site itself is taking too long to load, causing Jetpack to give up after 5-10 seconds.
It can also mean that your host is still limiting access to the file. This might be outright (all requests blocked) or based on some sort of rule (specific types of requests) or rate limiting (too many requests triggers blocking).
So all that said, since you’re using WordFence, the first thing I’d check is that you have the
Disable XML-RPC authentication
checkbox enabled in Wordfence > Login Security > Settings, and any manual .htaccess blocking to XML-RPC has been disabled.Let us know how that goes!

Hi @terry77xtra ,
Thanks for reaching out!
The thing is if she pays for the backup again will she be able to find previous backups, say from a month ago. The subscription expired 25 March 23.
Possibly. A lot depends on the size of her backup space. If your client was exceeding the total storage limit for her plan, then backups would start to be overwritten. There’s also an option to choose how many days worth of backups you want to keep, which would factor into things.
So basically, she’ll (or whoever is the ‘owner’ of the subscription) need to write into our support, so we can take a look at her actual account and availability of specific backups.
We can’t give you a definitive answer to this otherwise, I’m afraid.

In reply to: [SyntaxHighlighter Evolved] Weird tags in code?Hi @pavcreations ,
Interesting! I grabbed some of your code samples from your site (leaving off the ‘weird tags’), and I can’t duplicate this:
Screenshot Link: https://cloudup.com/cv8H_q9LeXO
The first two boxes are using the Syntax Highlighter block, the third the plain old ‘Code’ block.
How are you embedding the code?
What code editor are you using?
I vaguely wonder if your editor isn’t including some sort of ‘invisible code’ when you cut and paste into WordPress; for example, I can see what looks like a similar ‘weird tag’ in a post from 2020:

Hi @ankur218 ,
Is there a way to make sure once removed, only the admin can add them back? Or a way where when they click on enrol, the admin receives a request to add them to the course instead of getting added directly and accessing the course contents?
Interesting question!
The short answer is no.
The longer answer: Sensei mostly lets WordPress manage users (which is what students are.) So there’s no built-in controls for this sort of thing in Sensei.
However, you could:
- make sure
Users must be logged in to view lesson content.
is enabled in Sensei -> Settings. - remove the user from Users, or change their email address; something to block their ability to log in. There’s a good article here: https://www.wpbeginner.com/plugins/how-to-block-a-wordpress-user-without-deleting-their-account/
- or, use a plugin like this, for example: https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/lock-user-account/
Hope that helps!
Best,
Cena
