In reply to: Error Establishing Connection ErrorI host on my own Apple Xserve. I’ll check PMA. I have backups sent to GD everyday, never used them though. So, I’ll have to guide that out. What would cause only handful out of almost 200 sites to get this error?

In reply to: [Timely All-in-One Events Calendar] Not Pulling Feeds ProperlyLink to the Calendar page for All-in-One: https://www.edisonchargers.com/calendar2/. Link to the actual Google Calendar:
It is only pulling from the Academics feeds and the information it is pulling is not 100% accurate. Look at August 15th and 17th for example on Academics. And it isn’t pulling from the Athletics feed at all.

In reply to: Super Admin Showing as User on All New BlogsIt could be. I used the Batch Create plugin from WMPUDev to create the accounts. I’ll test it out by making one manually.

In reply to: Super Admin Showing as User on All New BlogsI was logged in as the super admin, but used the student’s e-mails for theirs accounts and set their role as admin.

In reply to: Batch Creating Users/BlogsYes, separate site entirely. I didn’t want the student sites mixed in with my main class site/database. I am using the Batch Create Blogs plugin for the WordPress directory. It worked great last year when the site was in its own domain. The school doesn’t give me any money for setting up the sites, plugins, etc. So, I always look for free solutions since I am not a pro developer/webmaster.
I tested making a blog by hand and it properly went into https://maclab.edisonchargers.com/blogs/student1, but that would take forever. The plugin will create the accounts in subfolders and I did use it with WP and not WPMU last year, but I guess it doesn’t understand when it is already installed in a subfolder?
Not looking forward to creating one by one.

In reply to: Custom Page Template – Own SidebarThanks George. I am thinking the same thing. With the sub-domain we could use a plugin to sync with our active directory server easy enough. I think it is a much better solution.

In reply to: Migrating MU Site(s) to Another WordPress MU Install?Bummer. It is only one years worth of blogs. I like to keep them up for as long as possible (previous years were done in Dreamweaver and Flash and are still available). I could just start fresh and have a one year gap in my historical archive.
Or I could just leave them separate. I am going to have ~200 new ones every year. My main issues was that by continuing to have them on their own install I don’t have much “front page” content since it is all on the Mac Lab site. Does that make sense?
How would you approach if you were having a class website with tutorials, galleries, information, etc. and students having their own sites?

In reply to: Theme Options Not Showing Up On Student BlogsThanks. I’ll bookmark that site, for other good info.
For 2010 Weaver looked in the functions.php and it does have edit_themes_options, but still no luck. ??
As for Athualupa, I searched the functions file, but didn’t see edit_themes to change it. I guess it is about time to learn some php.

In reply to: Bulk Create Users/Blogs for High School StudentsUnfortunately, no school e-mails for the students. My district, like many, is not very progressive. I have been trying to get them to switch to Google Apps for Education. It is free for K12 and no advertisements. All students would get an e-mail address then. Plus, all the other goodies.
Anyhow, looks like I can create a form in Google Docs and have the students type in their username and e-mail and it will put it into spreadsheet. That might have to work.

In reply to: Bulk Create Users/Blogs for High School StudentsI checked those out, but bot require email addresses. That would be a major PITA for me. I don’t have any of student’s email addresses. I could have them e-mail me, but that would be A LOT of copying and pasting.
Being able to create accounts by having a column of usernames and another of passwords would be great. Then the students could ad their e-mail addresses to their profiles. Or if anybody knows of way that I could collect the student e-mails and have them all put in a CSV or similar format would also work. They already know their usernames, it will be the same that they use to login into the computers. Is their soem kind of form that I can create that they can input their username and address and it will all be dumped into one CSV file?

In reply to: Unable to add or update themes/plugins, WP 2.9.2 on Mac OS X ServerSame problem on my end. I have an Xserve setup as a Webserver for my class page, school newspaper page, and student sites. I am running OS 10.5.8 and WP 3.01. Every time i try to install an update, new plugin, etc. I get the dreaded Could not create directory. /xxxxx
Any solutions, yet? It is really bugging me.
