I’m trying to do the same thing here.

I can add:

<p>“>Read More”<?php the_title(); ?>” …</p>

and it will link to the permalink.

The problem I encounter is that EVERY post now has a “Read More…” link. Is it possible to set this to be conditional – only if a post is being cut-off/shortened by default?

I get cut here:
https://www.mightyfunk.com/2008/04/
and:
https://www.mightyfunk.com/category/photography/

The reader wouldn’t know that ‘More’ of the post existed.

When they both should have a “Read More…” linking to a page like:
https://www.mightyfunk.com/2008/04/photography-placeholder/

Hey thanks again – I’ve disabled the registration to comment and I noticed that my website now populates a few fields that I wanted.

I’m also going to install a few additional security measures to fight spam.

Yes, but I really don’t care if they have to register. I’d like people to be able to make a quick post while avoiding spam through CAPTCHA like security measures.

Then turn off “users must register before leaving a comment”

I’ll give it a shot and see what nasty things happen.

This whole thing still begs the question,
“What is the best ‘post a comment’ plugin or extension?” You said it is not a plugin but I’ve seen plugins for WP that alter ‘post a comment.’
