Went to the plugin page. Activated the Akismet plug in. It is asking me for my API key. I have a WP account, but don’t understand how I get my API key. Don’t remember it being mailed to me. Anyone with a helpful answer would be great.

Are you suggesting I sign up for a new account just to get a API key?

I am curious about this as well. I would like to upgrade WP from 2.0 to 2.0.2. I did not see a read me file. What is the best way to upgrade without losing info? Thank you to anyone that can help out. Be gentle, I am new to this.

Is there a way to apply this feature to just have a ‘tell a friend’ note about the site in general, not just a post? When people visit my homepage, I just want a little button that says “Tell a friend about this site”. They type a friends email in the space given and hit send. There friend gets an email with a link to the site.

I am a newbie myself, but I believe you have to go to the ‘options’ tab as well, and click on ‘image maker’. Set it to how you want it, then hit save. That should do the trick. Let me know if that worked for you.

When I say options, I mean on the nav bar in your admin panel.

I installed and tried to apply this image feature. Cannot figure out how to get it to do what I posted. I am referring to the imagemaker plugin. Can I program it to do what my post asked? if yes…..how? Thanks.

Okay, I am ready to pack it in. Did this plugin, and now nothing works. I can’t even post to any page. Is it possible my WP is corrupt now since I have been f—in with it to much?

You are correct about what I want to do. I really don’t want to bother you too much with this. Once I remove the plugin, the lost catogory returns. I can’t figure it out. I will read the static front page link you sent and will see if I can work it out.

Check this out when you get back home. When you click on the link I provided in my previous posts, you will see a catagory called Children’s Health / Fitness. It is not even on the catagory list.

I still would like to put a welcome message on the main page(index.php) that does not appear on other pages. When I put the last plug in on my site, I could not get anything to appear on the index page at all. It simply is not working for me. Here is what I did on the manage page. Go to:

I think I did it correctly. When I do what you said, it makes one catagory disappear completely, and all my posts disappear.

If it worked for you, I am doing something wrong. I downloaded every plugin listed, then activated them. None of them worked. Most of them would not allow me to post simply on the home page. Others deleted catagories. Quick question before I go to bed….another night with no sleep over this!

The catogory ‘Children’s Health / Fitness Articles’ seems to be the ‘default’ catogory. Is that important to know? This is getting crazy. Why can’t this get fixed!!!!!!!

I am new to this, but I just put it in my plug in folder in WP, then on my admin page, clicked on the plugin link where I could activate it. The problem, it does not work with WP 2.0. I hope someone out there who knows there stuff can figure this out for us.
