As per usual, cracking support: issue resolved the same day.

Thank you for doing the research and pointing me to the solution in the WP-Rocket plugin.

My original issue might be completely unconnected but since the original pages were rejected by Google and accepted the second time, I have no further problems and the number of indexed AMP pages of our site continues to grow.

For reference:
Google is showing 414 Indexed AMP Pages since 27 May 2018 (ie nearly eight weeks) out of a total circa 1,800 pages of indexed pages on our site. So it is taking GSC a while to get around to finding and listing AMP pages even when an AMP sitemap has been added manually to GSC.

Paul I tried to write a post asking on how best incorporate the individual Site Reviews into our full schema for each location but the post has been held for moderation:

be TRUE if the WordPress page/post AMP: setting is set to “Enabled”?

It worked for us immediately and has worked ever since.
With the excellent help of @geminilabs we have linked to another Plugin both work like a dream.
If you can’t get it to work ask @gminilabs for advice here and you’ll get an answer within minutes normally, certainly before the end of the day.

I have no connection to @geminilabs apart from using this excellent plugin.

Hi Michael, I had the same error but when I test the page with the Google AMP tool the pages tested OK so I just resubmitted them for re-indexing and the following day the ‘AMP Error’ had totally disappeared from GSC. (Luckily I only had seven pages with the issue.)

I suggest doing the same as above for a few of the pages and seeing if the above clears the issue.

I have checked on both Safri and Chrome on my iPhone 6 and in Chrome desktop, with the Developer Tool’s option set to mobile and in all cases the Google search is returning with the SERP site listing website button linking to the none AMP page.

What am I doing wrong?

Hi David, sadly working out if the page/post had an AMP version would be too complicated for me!
However, I would certainly use the PRO version of simple-sitemap if that functionality was there!
