You can access your server media folders from the WordPress dashboard, you would need to install a plugin that was built for this functionality.

Have you tried deactivating all plugins and switching to the default theme and then trying to create a new post. If it doesn’t work out and you still get the same error, I think you should contact your hosting provider, it might be an issue with the network settings.
