Still having the same issue. Wondering if restoring back on the host company a few days back and then updating to the latest WordPress version would be the easiest way to solve this.

I have posted this question before but no one responds. Do you know the answer to this.

I had to do a complete restore of my database and site folder, deactivate all plugins and then reactivate one by one testing out the widget movement capability after each one. I had a conflict with Gixaw Chat plugin. My restore was also necessary because my dashboard got completely messed up when I tried the manual downgrade.

I restored my database and site folder. The restore is still using 2.8 it says and I think it is right because the widget screen is the new lousy layout not the 2.7.1 version. I deactivated plugins and then reactivated each one by one which fixed my moving widgets and adding photos into gallery problem. You may want to try a restore from your host system if you can’t get this fixed.

By the way, does anyone have an answer to my code issue re: a slider. I can’t seem to get anyone to answer it. I have been trying for weeks now.

The plugin Gixwax Chat caused the same thing to happen for me. I had to get my hosting company to restore both my backup and site files and then my Dashboard was OK. I then deactivated all plugins and restored one by one checking if the drag feature in widgets screen worked after each and every one was activated.

It was time consuming but that is how I found out this particular plugin was the issue.

I spent 4 days resolving this.

I have restored both database and site files. I disconnected a Gixax Chat plugin and my Dashboard now seems to work. Keep fingers crossed.

I restored and Dashboard is finally back. I deactivated Gixax Chat plugin and things seem OK.

I restored everything and found that the Gixax Chat plugin was causing issues. Now widget seem to work.

I have been restored (site and database) and got rid of Gixax Chat plugin. Everything seems OK. Hopefully it will stay that way. Dashboard is finally working again.

I restored my site and databases (took over 2 days), deactivated all plugins, activated one by one. I found I had an issue with the Gixax Chat plugin not allowing the widgets to be moved.

I now seem to be able to upload pics (at least the box displays in NextGen plugin.

Widgets worked weird at first but seem to be OK now. It says I am running 2.8 still but the Dashboard is at least back.

I am praying it stays OK.

I have deactivated all my plugins and my Dashboard is still completely messed up. I have asked my hosting company to restore everything and hoping I can get back to 2.7.1.

I the exact same problem. I am now trying to restore both my database files and wordpress folder files to 2.7 version because I have spent days trying to resolve this issue. I tried ftp’ing the files as the auto upgrade seems to be having huge issues especially if you did not disable every plugin first (which I did not do). Read the forums and you will see a lot of issues with this release.
