Actually I don’t think it is a fault with this plugin any more.
I tried an alternative smtp plugin and had the same problem.

I think the most likely cause of the problem is very slow SMTP handling by Microsoft Office 365 ( which is my organisations email system ). Their support forums have alot of similar reports of very slow handling via SMTP stretching back a couple of years (though their exchange email service is excellent)

So apologies for raising a concern – It’s not this plugins fault.

The latest update to 1.24 doesn’t appear to fix it.

I’ve just tried the same thing, using version 0.7 it doesn’t work.

I’m restricting a user ‘contributor’ to post to a specific category. Works fine if they create the post in wordpress, but if they submit via email, the post submitted via email uses the default uncategorised category.

Could this be looked at again please – thank you
