I’m glad it should work okay. It’s not working okay. This is the name of my file.

Is there something wrong with numbers and an underscore?

How do you delete files in this plugin? What is the actual process for doing so? How is it supposed to work? I see others have had this problem but those answers don’t pertain. It’s obviously an issue.

I want this file out of my website, how do I get it out? I”m not cluttering up my website with files I don’t want.

    I used this shortcode

I forgot to add, my inquiries to plugin designers (as per instructions from moderators) – as expected – have dropped into the black hole of support requesets, never to be heard from again, despite the fact that I followed all their requests of lists of all plugins, screenshots, direct request thru their website instead of forum or pluging support, etc etc etc. So ‘contact your plugin designer’ is not worthwhile advice, yet the chosen way of dealing with problems it seems.

christinabarefoottrimmer – The magic is actually that you scroll down, click on the item you want to add, and then click on what widget area to add it.

What if I may ask is ‘magical’ about scrolling, scrolling, scrolling down to where your item is (and how are you supposed to know where it is and find it without a lot of back and forth scrolling), clicking and adding? This adds many multiple steps to the process, and that is if a) you already know what you want or need and b) it works correctly. Otherwise it takes even longer. In order to be able to design your website it is necessary to see all the choices of widgets, then choose among them, since there is a pre-determined amount of widgets you can use which is determined by the website design. So if you can only have say, 4, you need to see ALL of them and choose the 4 best ones. What you are describing presumes already knowing what you want. The way it was before you could evaluate them all together. And you have to be very handy and lucky not to have your widget drop off as you are scrolling scrolling scrolling back to the top of the page.

It’s bad enough that a solution isn’t being offered but to be told the problem doesn’t exist is really infuriating.

In the literature touting the wonderful features of 3.8, the writer writes – “scrolling, scrolling, scrolling”. How appropriate. Because you can only fit two vertical columns anymore (I guess that works for mobile) e.g. on the widget page, I find myself, scrolling scrolling scrolling, constantly (sung to the tune of rolling, rolling, rolling), unfortunately all that scrolling makes me lose what I had clicked on in the first place, and I have to start. All. Over. Again.

I cannot WAIT till this trend blows over.

No one who has posted here is part of the core or UI development team.

    Maybe that’s the problem.

`I am going to try the last one but the rest of them don’t apply. The last one seems like it targets spammer registrations. The rest target the spam after a user has been created. I’m trying to prevent creation of unauthorized subscribers. The others aren’t applicable because you don’t need to subscribe to create a comment, and no comments have been submitted anyway.

I am curious as to why this problem suddenly popped up after I updated to 3.8. Yet another problem with this update.

You need to take this up with the developers of both plugins.

That is exactly the problem that DFlynn is describing in their previous post. WP makes a cosmetic and functional change, there are complaints about it, advice is given to ‘try this plugin’, it doesn’t work – OH WELL! Too bad. I have ‘taken it up’ and there is no further investigation being done. I will be sure to tell you if I’m ever given a solution beyond ‘get rid of your other plugin so ours can work’. So I’m left with a choice of my website either looking good and usable, or having a function I need. Not both. In other words – the perfect illustration of why providing a link to a plugin is not a solution and seems like being ‘blown off’.

Ive followed your advice and either the plug-in–a third party product–clashes with something else, its unintelligible to use, it just adds to plug-in bloat, or becomes obsolete down the track.

Correct. The WP Classic Admin plugin clashes with my Calendar plugin. The developer of the plugin is looking into the problem and I await to be told I need to get rid of my calendar plugin, which is one of the main purposes of the website. What’s the point of having it if it can’t do what it’s supposed to?

Your job is not to follow whatever aesthetic fashion happens to be on the front page of dribble this week but to think about and consider how users interact with the admin.

This flat looking- supposedly ‘minimalist’ look is definitely a trend that the WP team has jumped on. My guess is it’s a combination of not wanting to seem old, stodgy and behind the times and trying to accommodate mobile devices better by having things fit into two narrow vertical very long columns that you have to keep scrolling down and down to view. Only thing I don’t understand is why have it take up so much horizontal space and fit less on a page, making it that much harder to use. I think functionality is completely sacrificed here as I can’t envision anyone making design changes to their website on a mobile device or even tablet, it’s just too wonky and unpredictable.

When I switched my blog over to be a real website, with a new theme, I had a devil of a time figuring out how to turn off comments. It took quite a few hours of poking around and digging to finally turn them off. It wasn’t a simple matter of turning it on/off either, there were a series of steps involved and if you started in the wrong place in the sequence there was no way to know that you had to start over, it just seemed like it didn’t work at all. Very, very frustrating experience. I realize it might be theme related, but still.

It sounds like your requests are more addressed by plugins than a theme pe r se. There are some excellent slider plugins that work with different themes I’m using, and there are, I believe, several plugins that allow a user to upload a file.

I suggest just contact me directly here: mindomobile.com/contact-us/.

Why do I need to contact you directly? What are you not able to do from this portal – and why do you have it if you can’t solve problems from here? I believe I have provided all the information you requested.

Those plugins offered above are still white typeface on a dark background. Not black face on a grey background like the old admin panel.

I should have said the reason for going back to the old typeface (besides the fact it’s much more readable because it’s not thin like Open Sans), is because it takes up less horizontal space, therefore more lines fit on one page and there’s a better chance of seeing everything on one page instead of having to scroll up and down which breaks your train of thought
