In reply to: New admin panel 3.8 is terribleFeatures that I need:
– grey background with black type
– gradients in the grey that give the text boxes a 3D feel
– thin lines between the blocks on the left hand side of the panel
– thicker lines/spacing between the headings of the groups on the left side of the panel
– go back to old font from Open Sans to (I believe) Aktiv Grotesk (?)for 1) readability 2) less space between lines and take up less horizontal space on the page (more fits on the page)
– restore the combination of serif and sans serif fonts in the middle of the panel
– restore the little icons from the current silhoutte to a 3D drawing with shadow
– replace widgets into multiple columns instead of two so that you can see them all in one page and more with them without scrolling up and down. It is hard to choose between somethings if you can’t see them at the same time
– restore functionality to calendar plug inForum: Requests and Feedback
In reply to: Feedback RE: WordPress 3.8 admin UI and my e-commerce clients. Not everyone likes change
Doesn’t sound like Mr. Crom is talking about existing clients but rather new ones who have no familiarity with the old UI, and are just making a judgment on the new one, and realizing it is not user friendly. And rejecting it.

In reply to: [wp-admin classic] Doesn't do what it says it doesThe screenshot shows which version I’m running. I”m not aware of multiple versions. I did a search on WP Admin Classic and selected the only one that came up

In reply to: [wp-admin classic] Doesn't do what it says it doesHere are screenshots of the Admin Classic plugin activated and deactived, a shot of what happens to the widget page, and a shot of a different site that hasn’t been updated for comparison to the old UI. I think the differences are self explanatory but if you need me to enumerate them please do tell me.

In reply to: New admin panel 3.8 is terribleI installed the WP Admin Classic plug in to try and revert to the original look which as I said it does not, all it does it change the colors. But what it does do is make it impossible to work with widgets. The available widgets are listed in two narrow columns about 10 characters wide with the text all scrambled and overlapping, and a small box at the top of each ‘paragraph’ which looks like it was supposed to be the Widget name. Even if you somehow new which widget the block of text referred to and already knew what it did and you wanted it, you can’t select anything there or drag and drop into any of the sidebars. So it’s completely disabled the Widget functionality, obviously one of the more important features of WP. So using this plugin does not solve the problem and creates at least two new ones.

In reply to: New admin panel 3.8 is terribleWhen I remove the WP Admin classic plugin and go back, the Widgets are all displayed in two long vertical columns that I have to scroll down to see all of them, instead of having them go all across the page and be able to see them all at once. It is impossible to see them all which is necessary to do in order to find and choose which one I might want to add, or delete. This makes it really, really, really, hard to work with widgets.
Plus it is really difficult to impossible to grab a widget from the bottom and push it to the top to try and drag and drop it, because you can’t scroll when you’re holding down the mouse button.

In reply to: New admin panel 3.8 is terribleAs far as the calendar problem – I created my event as a single event with multiple dates/times rather than the correct single event for each occurrence (because that is the only way that it works now) and on my front page calendar widget it shows the events as one long ongoing event from January 18 – April 19, which of course it is not. It’s one day in each of Jan, Feb, Mar, April. But it won’t let me create it as separate events unless I do a new, manual entry for each one.

In reply to: [wp-admin classic] Doesn't do what it says it doesJust found the first huge problem with this plugin (wp admin classic the one that changes the background back to grey and typeface to black but no other changes) besides the calendar problem. It completely messes up the Widget function. When I click on widgets there are little boxes in one very narrow column and all the text down one side, about 10 characters wide, all overlapping. Needless to say I can’t make any changes to Widgets once I’ve installed the plugin to make 3.8 look as if it’s still the old one (which is barely does anyway).
