In reply to: [Classic Editor] Images not linking to media file by default in new siteHow do I post there? I can’t find the post button.
Really too bad what happened to WP, with no free support whatsoever. At least you could add a WP run PAID support forum.

So you decided to call categories “sections” and they’re NOWHERE to be seen unless you try to create a new post.
Maybe that’s why import from betterdocs didn’t work at all.
Still don’t know though why in another install without betterdocs DRAFT PAGES showed up.
Really????
Received NO reply whatsoever to my “feedback” after installing your pro beta on two domains, it’s more of an alpha and NOTHING works.
So now I’m using the free plugin for further testing.- This reply was modified 8 months, 3 weeks ago by ChristineB.
@dreamsoft Could you post an update?
Thanks!Forum: Plugins
In reply to: [Classic Editor] How to disable the obnoxious formatting barPasting images also isn’t working. I get a thing to write a caption, but the images don’t show up in the editor or in the saved post.

In reply to: [Auto Upload Images] No images in mediaFound some instructions here:
https://wordpress.stackexchange.com/questions/257180/how-to-import-wordpress-posts-with-images-from-one-wordpress-site-to-anotherSo SOME images are showing up in media now, but it doesn’t work for all posts.
https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/why-no-option-to-run-this-in-bulk-on-all-existing-posts/
Is this still accurate? I don’t get any new pics in media doing the bulk update.

Thank you so much, James!
First I deactivated Jetpack (once I figured out how to get into network admin), but it did not go away no matter what I did.
So finally I found the settings for the toolbar, it’s so easy when you know how.
Wish you had a tip jar here, I’m so busy and you really helped me out!

James, here is the site:

Thanks for your help!

In reply to: time out when importing /wp-admin/admin.php:321Divide and conquer on the XML file, try and isolate the piece or trait it is stalling upon.
I can see myself wasting another 50 hours. Makes me just want to quit. You’d think a “computer” could figure out what’s wrong.
For well over 30 years I’ve transferred data from various software like Excel and databases, but WordPress can’t accomplish this. Really makes you wonder.

In reply to: time out when importing /wp-admin/admin.php:321The xml is an export from the live site, not a backup.
Once you have imported the whole old site to a new database, then you will be in a better position to slim it down, removing the aspects you don’t need/want.
I specifically didn’t want to restore the whole site because it’s multisite and I want to go to a single blog install. I’ve done a lot of reading on how to revert to single blog and so many people have problems.
And I could probably figure out how to deal with tables, but I’m afraid to miss something or import something I don’t want. How long does it take to do that? Are there some instructions somewhere?
I just know that every time there is a future problem I will wonder what I screwed up doing that.
I have in the past moved blogs via the import / export and now it’s 2016 and everything is as difficult as in 1994 when I created my first website.

In reply to: time out when importing /wp-admin/admin.php:321I’m using Desktop Server https://serverpress.com/ and it came with XAMPPLITE and WP, all ready to go.
I tried their support, but they say it’s a WordPress problem and sent me the link to increase the time out.
I even used the XML file splitter to split it in two parts and it still didn’t work. The entire xml file is under 4 mb, pics import and I get posts and pages, don’t know what causes the error and what’s missing.
I can work on a new site and everything seems to work fine, but that doesn’t do me much good as I need my posts and pages for the design.
Apparently Desktop Server can only import the ENTIRE site (and you need the $100 pro version), but I specifically do NOT want to import the entire site because I want to go from multisite to a single install and the site might have been hacked some years ago (not sure whether it was this site.)
Basically, I want a clean new install with an all new theme and design with my old posts and comments.
Talk about frustration …
Maybe I should just install XAMP and try that?
It’ll take me several weeks to get everything set up the way I want and then I need to again import posts, pages and comments from the live site and somehow get it all uploaded.
Appreciate suggestions!

In reply to: Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_LNUMBERThanks!
I checked my 2.7 install and apparently I had the same problem with it and eventually didn’t use any security key to make it work.
So I’m sure you’re right about the key being the problem. Thing is, I’m wondering how difficult it can be to copy/paste those keys. I know I had started with a new config to try it a 2nd time.
I suppose I’m just getting too old for this, my eyes aren’t what they used to be …

In reply to: Clickable HeaderI tried that and wasted a LOT of time reading again and again that I should search, with one post stating that I should read the 99 search results. How helpful – NOT!
A better start is here:
https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Designing_Headers
This seems to work to make the entire header clickable:
<div id=”header”<?php modmatHeaderImage(); ?> onclick=”location.href=’https://siteaddress/’;” style=”cursor: pointer;”>>
Is there a site where I can get WP support without being insulted at a membership forum? I’ll be glad to pay a few bucks.
