In reply to: How do you merge multiple blogs into one WordPress 3.0 installation? That’s a pretty big exception!
But, seriously, this is supposed to be a major feature of this WordPress edition. It’s a bit weird that there isn’t an official WordPress “how to” guide somewhere.
Hopefully soon and please let me know, anyone, if you find an answer!
Cheers,
Christoph

In reply to: 2.7 upgrade – Redirect Loop errorWith WP 2.81, disable canonical URL redirect plugin worked for me, whereas disabling all plugins did nothing.

However, why can’t I use canonical URL redirects!!? They’re there for a reason.
* * *So annoying. And only at https://christophdollis.com/
My other sites work just fine.
Incidentally, it was my posts page getting the redirect loop error, not my homepage. WordPress is installed in its own directory not the root, if that matters.
In my case the resolution was pretty simple so if you’re having this exact problem, please listen up.
I publish my blog posts using custom permalinks in the format:
/blog/%postname%
… where /blog is just what I entered into the custom permalink field. It’s also where my WordPress install is in Options > General…
WordPress address (URL): https://christophdollis.com/blog
Blog address (URL): https://christophdollis.comAnd when I go to Options > Reading…
[selected] Front page displays: A static page (select below)
Front page: MY SITE HOME PAGE
Posts page: MY MAIN BLOG PAGEThis is the important bit… in reality, my feed is located at:
and:
NOT:
https://christophdollis.com/blog/comments/feed
nor:
https://christophdollis.com/blog/feed
… like it used to be before I changed permalink structure and created a separate site home page.
So if you have this common error and you have your site home page separate from your blog posts home page, this may be the cause. Double check you’re drawing your feed from the correct URL.

In reply to: Other directory in path, new domain but old path from other domaiHi, it’s actually way, way simpler than that, mwbarker, although of course editing the database by hand would work. Go to Options > XML Sitemap where you’ll see this among the bullet points:
- If you changed something on your server or blog, you should rebuild the sitemap manually.
That’d be the one.

In reply to: Can’t Edit Blogroll Categories Because Tab Is MissingSorry, I eventually found it. I had no idea the blogroll categories are associated with the overall post categories — which is where the link to edit such categories is found!

In reply to: Not receiving email notification of new commentsThat definitely didn’t work for me either, sadly, changing the email addresses.
Anyone have a clue?

In reply to: How to make the css switcher from alistapart work on WordPressUmm, CtiaKitahara… not to put too fine a point on it, but can you share the solution?
Or at least tell me where I might find it?
“I’ve just found the solution!!! I’m very happy!!!”
… is great, but not very helpful to me!
Pretty please?
