In reply to: Cant drag Widgets !Well, I don’t use your “King framework,” so I can’t really comment on that. My problem is that I CAN drag the widgets; they just won’t save their new location if I change the contents of the text widgets.
I’ve tried a lot of things, and I don’t really have much time to try more. It’s essay season at school :(.

In reply to: Cant drag Widgets !Update:
I sort of fixed it, or at least found something else useful. Whenever I change the number of text widgets from 4 to 1, I can make changes again. However, if I increase that number even to 2, it breaks again.
By “breaking,” I mean that when I click on save changes, it goes to my home page without changing anything, rather than the proper “Sidebar updated. View Site” notice in admin.
Is this any help?

In reply to: Cant drag Widgets !I’ve sent in a question, and they haven’t replied yet (I use a great free host called Grinhost, with no ads). They’re using PHP version 4.4.4. I can probably get more information from cPanel if you let me know what to look for.
I think the problem is that WordPress isn’t given permission or can’t modify my files in my site. It can access MySQL stuff, so I’ve continued to blog and post new entries. However, I can’t change any template files or widget orders from my backend; I can only change those by using FTP.
Does this info help? I’ve tried a lot so far, and it all seems to point in this direction. I’m not an advanced user of Unix, but maybe it has something to do with granting permission to WordPress?

In reply to: Please help with my student siteAlex King’s “Share This” seems cool, and I like the icons. With that said, however, there’s still no universal “share this” icon like there is for RSS, and even the RSS icon is a mystery to most users. I’m quite sure that many people who use social bookmarking sites already know how to submit articles, and I’m pretty sure that I won’t be converting anyone over to social bookmarking (maybe they’ll appeal to the general user sometime in the short future).
I think I have them there just as a sort of graphical distraction, as my site is really full of words. You’ll notice that I’m trying to incorporate a thumbnail graphic in front of each post; maybe that’ll ease reading all that text for a little bit.
In terms of layout refinement, I’ve been having a lot of trouble recently. For some reason, I can’t change any of my widgets or site files without FTPing in and changing it manually. What I mean is that the admin backend can’t seem to modify site files; it can only modify MySQL queries to let me make new posts. I’ve been documenting my troubles at this thread:

Thanks for your comments, and let me know if you can think of a solution!

In reply to: Please help with my student siteHow are the social bookmarking icons messed up? They seem to work fine for me, but I’ve only tested on Flock and IE7.

In reply to: Cant drag Widgets !That’s a possibility. How do I go about resolving the issue though? Overwriting the WP install and hoping things will go fine? Re-running the upgrade script?

In reply to: Widgets in sidebar can’t be changedThe problem’s even worse. I tried editing my header.php on an related mission, but clicking “Update file” does nothing as well. Perhaps there’s something wrong with the administration backend?

In reply to: Cant drag Widgets !It still doesn’t work for me. Funny though, it was working for my 2.1 until about a week ago, and I don’t think I messed around with anything. I’ve tried installing the new version and everything outlined here. Anyone have any updates?
