In reply to: wordpress recommendedWell, its not crosswinds.net that is listing it as a cms.
WordPress is one of several items listed under Content Management on the crosswinds’ volunteers’ website.
It does manage content, its just not a content management system.
So, should it be listed as a blog tool, and not a Content Manager tool ?
Thanks

In reply to: wordpress recommendedOkay, now I’m more confused.
Its a blogging tool thats also a cms ?
Its mentioned under a section titled ‘Content Management’. Blogger and MovableType is also in that same section.

In reply to: Political GrindI find the layout to be easy to read… well, at first the center text sort of blended with the gray background. But my eyes are tired.
Looks good to me.

In reply to: Site check: Samurai7.netI like the color scheme and the roof header pic. Easy to read text.
But I notice it still says ‘loading from’ after a full minute. I am on a t-1 as I view it.

In reply to: A Hasty Theme, Some Quick Hacking…Looks good to me.

Forum: Plugins
In reply to: Plugin Manager Problemhmm. okay tmp isn’t allowed…
but its not logical that tmp inside a domain would be locked… its not the system tmp directory.
Of course, the directory could be named temp or temporary
Those shouldn’t be locked for non-system use.

In reply to: Plugin Manager Problemare you trying to install it in the webhosts tmp directory, or a tmp directory inside your domain ?
As Jinsan said, if its into the webhost’s tmp directory, you wont have access.

In reply to: Security Breach in WP?hmm. my webhost recently redid some php commands, like chr, on the server side, to block attacks.
one domain owner had reported a problem of someone breaking into his blog, and the web host took down the php server side and fixed chr and a number of others.
sorry, I don’t have a list handy.

In reply to: Changing the Header in a Theme and Inserting ImagesFor substituting header images, I use irfanview to find out the size of the theme’s original pic.
Then I either load the new header pic in irfanview, cut/crop to the same size, or use ctrl-r and resize it to the same height and width.
save it in a sub-folder on my home computer hard drive, with the filename of the original file.
upload via ftp to over write the old header file.
keep a copy of the old header pic on my home computer in case I want to go back to it.
Use a browser to check my blog site.

In reply to: List of Hacks and Plugins?updating:
making a list of what plugins are on codex in a nice spreadheet, offline.
I’ll work on getting the list compared to what is already done between the various sites listed above.
I see mention of the plugin contest… I’ll just see what I can get done of the plugins that already exist, and make them into one list. Then work on updating the list on codex.
Maybe someone else will have the time to type up the plugin contest entries after its over.
Later.
Oh, speaking of my eyes… I’m not ready to emulate anyone in ‘ghost in the shell’ anime…
