Fixed it myself ??

Plugins > Editor > Puddypress-sliding-login-panel > update-content.php

Added <?php bloginfo('wpurl') ?> into the hrefs that weren’t linking right, and now it works beautifully.

I deleted all the junk in my .htaccess file (I’d installed a security plugin, and it added all this extra code) and reinstated a “fresh” WP copy of the file… and deleted that plugin.

OK, so I’ve spent pretty much all day hunting for an answer, and managed to find another old thread that suggested renaming .htaccess and OMG it worked. I’m in.

Not 100% sure what the htaccess file does though? I’m more a front-end HTML/CSS nerd than a server-y PHP guru, so if someone can let me know if I need a htaccess file, or what it does, or anything, that’d be great!
