Is your new installation in the same directory where the older version was?

My problem too! mod_rewrite is active in my apache installation, I checked everything twice and thrice. htaccess: Error 500. No htaccess: No problem.
Has somebody by any chance come across a solution for this?

It’s in German. But as I expect a few English-speaking visitors, it would be cool if I could post some posts in another category (= English) and offer the English-language interface for comments etc. at the same time.

I created a .htaccess file to modify the permalink structure. But now I have problems getting into my wordpress at all – whenever I start it I get the error message 403 “Forbidden : You don’t have permission to access … on this server.”
It would seem there was a .htaccess file and I replaced it. How can I get the old one back??
