My original thought was something along the lines of this:
Someone reads your blog. They like your blog, and want to “refer” your site to someone else. A lot of “regular” sites will have a link that says something like “recommend this site”.
but I think the link lifeinjersey provided will accomplish this even better.

Is it possible that the validation problems are coming from me using formatting tags like “strong” and “font” directly in the theme files instead of utilizing the style sheet?

Thanks for the input! I will attempt to implement all your suggestions. I noticed the validation problems, as well. Having a hard time fixing them all. I do know, that when I use blockquotes with links in them, I get errors everywhere. Not sure what to do about that. Jedyt, I agree that scrolling down to get to the blog is most annoying. I’ve been wanting to reduce the size of the header picture. I will move the sidebar ads down below all the main links.

fyi I was using Thunderbird’s RSS feature for anyone else experiencing this.

How about a crazy, drastic solution. I moved my entire site, files and datbase to another web host. (long story) Now everything works. Must have been yahoo.
thanks for the advice. I did try replacing the functions.php, but there’s something about Yahoo that doesn’t allow pinging.

Thought I’d throw this in here for others. I was having the exact same problem. Then it dawned on me that my adblock extension in Firefox had the google ads blocked. Sure enough, some time ago, I blocked an annoying google ad, and that’s why they were showing up in IE and not Firefox. For me anyway.

How ironic I blocked google ads, and now am putting them on my site.

Should an upgrade to 1.5.1 fix it?
Any if not, then I should try replacing functions.php?

Thanks Moshu! I uploaded the index.php and the style sheet, and that fixed the problem. Were there any other changes other than these two files?
I think it would be good to mention, as well, that if your blog is fairly new without a lot of posts, the “next page” link at the bottom of the page will go to the “Sorry, no posts matched your criteria” message. This won’t be a problem, really. Just need to make more posts!
