In reply to: [Yoast SEO] Yoast SEO panel not in postsThe Yoast box area at the bottom of posts and pages is gone. I’ve never seen this before: https://pasteboard.co/nrhkjgUoID8z.jpg
When I click on the different tabs, nothing beneath it shows. No place to put title or description. The section area is expanded. Noticed this for past two days. Plugin version is 23.3?
Pixelgrade sent me an older version of the Customify plugin (v. 2.3.3) to replace the new one. When I installed that via FTP, it fixed the problem and my client’s site is back to normal. But now I’m hesitant to update this plugin in the future.
Thank you Gerald, this is useful info to know as all my clients are on GoDaddy’s Managed WordPress Hosting and I added WF to another one of them (but looks like I had checked Don’t Automatically Update so nothing happened to the site, phew).
So for now, it sounds like it would be best to only update the WordFence plugin is through FTP, meaning delete it completely then add it again.
This is the second or third time a WordFence update crashed my client’s site. My client informed me that they were getting a 500 error since yesterday. When I disabled the plugin by renaming it in FTP, the site came back up.
Even if I took off the auto update (which I didn’t know was set to “on”), I would be VERY hesitant to even manually update it knowing it might crash the site. I had deleted the plugin before because of this, but for other reasons, added it back on recently–only to now have it crash the site. I don’t know if I can trust this plugin! Very frustrating.
I deleted the plugin once again on FTP and have to figure out whether I should add it back to the site. The site sits on a server with GoDaddy Managed WordPress hosting. It’s on PHP 7.2, latest WP core.

In reply to: [Gutenberg] The most terrible UX ever!I agree! It’s obvious they didn’t test this thing on normal, everyday website users. I guess they left the testing to coder people who had the time to test out Gutenberg before it was released? Although there were people during the testing that tried to shout out this wasn’t going to work.

In reply to: [Wordfence Security - Firewall, Malware Scan, and Login Security] 500 ErrorMy client informed me their website was down today, “white screen of death.” I saw through FileZilla that the wordfence plugin was updated on 4 Dec. I didn’t manually update it. I stopped having all plugins automatically updated because of this 500 error happening more often lately as a result of updates. I renamed the wordfence plugin to old and now the site is back up. Looks like the latest update is crashing websites.

In reply to: HTTP error when uploading an image via the WordPress Media UploaderSee this thread: https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/http-error-when-uploading-images-17?replies=10. Ahir Hemant post, Solution #1. WP 4.5 upgrade seems to be the culprit.

In reply to: HTTP Error. when uploading imagesDitto for me too. Solution 1 worked. Problem started with upgrade to WP 4.5 too. This is the second problem I’ve encountered with the upgrade. The other has to do with a JQuery problem where images are no longer shown on a website. I found another fix for the functions.php file for that. I’ve never had such major problems with a WP upgrade before. It’s like everything is breaking.

In reply to: [Yoast SEO] Yoast plugin not compatible with Visual Composer pluginI’m having the same problem. When the Yoast SEO was updated, I could no longer edit the pages I had created in Visual Composer. The tech guys of my theme disabled Yoast SEO and I could edit pages in VC again. They told me to use another SEO plugin.
I like Yoast SEO and want to keep using that but if this problem isn’t fixed, I can’t keep Yoast SEO. This includes all websites that use VC I work on for clients.
I guess we could tell Visual Composer about this problem but it’s the Yoas plugin that broke it. Things were working fine before.
