    Thank you gopatel

Wouldn’t you get that error message, since you don’t have permission to access that site?

That is not the same error message I get. I get: The requested URL /wp-admin/install.php was not found on this server.

I am emailing my host to check on my permissions.

I am able to log in to their server, so I think it is configured right.

Not sure what you mean by right permission to files and folders

Could it be that my url is not yet active? I switched my domain name from register.com to tierra.net on Friday evening. I was told it would take 24-72 hours, but then I was able to log onto their tierra.net server yesterday so I thought it was active.

That is what I have been trying to do. I get this message:
The requested URL /wp-admin/install.php was not found on this server.

And how would I know if I have all file folders? If I do a fresh download, do I have to go through all the steps again?

    Thanks for your help.

THESE ARE THE DIRECTIONS I HAVE TRIED TO FOLLOW:
Open wp-config.php in a text editor and fill in your database details as explained in Editing wp-config.php to generate and use your secret key password. I never got a secret password.

    6. Run the WordPress installation script by accessing wp-admin/install.php in a web browser.

If you installed the WordPress in the htdocs/ directory, you should visit: https://yourdomain.com/wp-admin/install.php

I used this one twice, but got error message both times. Do you just open another browser window? That’s what I did, but I don’t really understand this.

    WordPress should then be installed!

I don’t understand. Why would I rename the file after they made such a big deal about saying it had to be renamed? I edited the config-php file, but don’t understand about th secret key password. What is that?

I have now located the file, but don’t know how to edit it with my info. They have a text editor called “Webby”, but I can’t figure out how to use it.
