In reply to: How to make blog on Blog page look more like individual postsThanks @sterndata, I will do that.
@joyously, the blog page (as I have it configured, because I like it that way, currently shows the whole post). I may change it later when I have more posts, but it’s new and would look a little lonely if it were just excerpts. So they read the whole post, but they can’t click on related tags unless they (unintuitively) click on the blog title and go to the permalinked version. Thanks @varynukov.
I do have Jetpack and I do click on the edit icon. And I have tried changing size there. I have tried uploading a larger pic. Doesn’t matter. Still shows up in that small size. I’m totally at my wit’s end! I feel like it’s something hidden that is foiling my best attempts. Any hints?
Thanks! Thanks, @vanyukov for the reply, but I used it to try and help me with resizing. I’m having the problem of images being smaller than I want. And I’ve just read what a WordPress CDN is and why I want one, but am not aware that I have one? Are you saying it is built in to WordPress? Is there something that can help make the 2nd and 3rd pics on the shared page larger? Nothing I do seems to make a difference.
If you cannot see from the link just go to anentireworld.com The most recent post is “Caravans, Crossings, and Circumstance.” If you look at the older post (there are only 2!) “These things I believe” you’ll see an embedded pic that looks larger. I have no idea why that pic is larger but the 2nd and 3rd photos on “CC&C” are smaller. I also have no idea how to make the default pic on CC&C sharpest.
I can’t find any documentation that helps me. I really appreciate your help.
Much obliged.
LauraHi Dimitris,
Thank you so much for the reply. Yes I believe that is the function. I’m sure there’s a more elegant way to do this, but here’s a screen cap of the problems it identifies.https://anentireworld.com/?page_id=315&preview=true
But the truth is that I don’t really care what Smush says is right. I guess the underlying issue is that I can’t find in my theme what size it wants pictures to be.
I want to understand how to choose pictures that will be clear and appropriately sized. I thought Smush might help me figure that out, but it has only confused me more by telling me that a picture that is 596 x 596 is too small for a container that is 596 x 596.
But I really tried Smush because the second and third pic look well sized in the editor, but no matter how big (or small) I make them, they turn out to be fairly small on the published page. I’d like the text to wrap around them but for them to be roughly twice the size they are. Or at least 50% bigger. But nothing seems to change their size. Any ideas?
I’ve looked at articles online that tell me to look in the code to find the defined heights for pics, but I can only find the size of the header image.
I can see in my dashboard, settings, media the Max sizes for each size of photo that I add to my library, but I don’t truly understand what that means as it doesn’t ask me what size photo I’m uploading.
I’m fairly good with technology/math so tend to think I can figure things out. But this has me stymied! Thank you so much for any enlightenment you can throw my way!
