In reply to: Trying to upload a file for 3 daysYes, it was the scribd-doc-embedder that I used and it said ‘successfully’ uploaded after a conversion process. In my browser, and in scribd, it looked just as it should on the WP page.
I made it public because it’s going on the Web site.
Oh, OK, thanks for that, so I need both the document ID and the document key [scribd-doc doc=”DOCID” key=”KEY”]. I will log back in to scribd to try to get them, then.
When I have them, do I then return to the dashboard?
Thanks for all your research

In reply to: Trying to upload a file for 3 daysHello James
Yes, posted the original message hours ago and didn’t get a reply.
Thanks for getting back to me.
The plug-in is called scribd.

In reply to: Uploading file?Yes, I had better ask them about the plugin and theme function.
Many thanks again!

In reply to: Uploading file? When I clicked on the October Timetable just to see it in page, I could only see gobbledegook, but it was fine when I downloaded the file.
But if you click on the August Timetable you can see it as it should be without downloading it.
So my predecessor who did August did it correctly!

In reply to: How to delete a file?I have managed to delete the unwanted files via Media.
I must have uploaded the docx file in the wrong way.

In reply to: Uploading file? Thanks, Jeff
I think I have now deleted the two files from the active site, so I am back to the way it was before I messed it about.
These are monthly timetables with some colour graphics in Word and they usually appear fine on the homepage, so I can only assume that it’s me who has made a mess uploading them although I thought I had followed the Codex steps in ‘To Upload a File in a Post’. I haven’t done it before, not in WordPress anyway.

In reply to: How to delete a file?Hello
Thanks for your reply. This is what I can see at the moment in the dashboard:
https://www.bayingwolf.com/files.jpg
Where I have circled, do I just press Edit and delete them from there?
Thanks again.

In reply to: Uploading file? Thanks for your reply.
I must have done it wrongly because all I can see is two ugly files on the site here: https://www.tomorrowswomenwirral.org.uk/ in the ‘Recent Post’, October timetable.
If I knew how to remove them I would try to follow your idea of Media | Add New.
It’s a Word document I am trying to upload.

In reply to: Site is unavailableThanks for that.
Where you have Tagline in your screenshot, that should be under the blue headline ‘Tomorrow’s Women Wirral’ and both should be centred. If I knew how to edit it (!), I would have the tagline in a font smaller than the headline.
The ‘Welcome to our website’ menu link should be deleted, and the Header, ‘Welcome to our website’ should be centred.
No, I haven’t created a child theme or anything else. I have been asked to take over the site from someone who maintained it previously and she has since left the charity. I didn’t know anything about WordPress before (I had heard of it, of course) or PHP, let alone how the previous Web person put it all together!

In reply to: Site is unavailableOh, yes, sorry for the confusion. You have saved my life – I was expecting a dreaded phone call anytime now!
Thanks for pointing that out.
How am I able to edit the site you see:
https://www.tomorrowswomenwirral.org.uk/
The tagline is not in the correct position and there are two ‘Welcome to our site’ subheadings. I understand I should be able to do that in the Dashboard. Would that be under Appearance | Themes?
Thanks again for your time.

In reply to: Site is unavailableHello
If I am on this page here in Dashboard:
https://www.bayingwolf.com/Dashboard.jpg
and click on Save and Publish (top left) will the site be published on the Internet (I seem to have inadvertently taken the old site down)?
I also wanted to ask about the Tagline. It appears in the black bar along the top as in the screenshot when it should be under the headline ‘Tomorrow’s Wirral Women’ in a different font size and colour. How would I go about doing that, please?
Thank you.

In reply to: Site is unavailableI aimed to replace the Just Pink theme with the iFeature theme which I activated. But I wanted to work on the iFeature theme without it interfering with the live site.
What I see now in the Dashboard is:
https://www.bayingwolf.com/iFeatureX.jpg
It’s as if the live content has merged with the iFeature theme – and become unavailable online. In addition, the iFeature theme proper is nothing like in the screenshot. It has 3 slider photos that take up the width of the Web page.
So, I don’t really know what’s going on. I am completely new to WP, but I need to get the site – preferably the old one – back up and running.
Thanks again.

In reply to: Replacing photos?Hello
OK, so I log-in, go to Appearances | Themes and I see what I am showing in the iFeatures1.jpg screenshot.
https://www.bayingwolf.com/iFeature1.jpg
I have already activated it.
When I then click on Pages (please see screenshot iFeature2_Pages.jpg), I see:
https://www.bayingwolf.com/iFeature2_Pages.jpg
I can’t see any images – only links. Moreover, those links belong NOT to the iFeatures theme, but to the Just Pink theme which is the theme of the live site which is here:
https://www.tomorrowswirralwomen.org.uk
Eventually, I want to replace that site and that theme with the iFeatures theme.
