I ended up reinstalling and starting from scratch… Thanks for your help!
I also located the error file and it gives me quite a lot from yesterday/today, one typical error of hundreds: {[08-Jul-2019 00:31:10 UTC] PHP Warning: Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by (output started at /home/classicbikenut/thingummybob.com/wp-content/plugins/increase-maximum-upload-file-size/index.php:17) in /home/classicbikenut/thingummybob.com/wp-login.php on line 453} alternating between 458 and 463 ad infinitum.
Then: {[09-Jul-2019 03:10:29 UTC] PHP Warning: include_once(/home/classicbikenut/thingummybob.com/wp-admin/includes/admin.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/classicbikenut/thingummybob.com/wp-includes/update.php on line 598}

Perhaps what I should be looking for and what I might be able to ‘copy-paste’ ore move within cPanel or with Fetch? No idea!
Thanks – sorry, I’m lousy with all this stuff at 64, it has been a while since I was involved with all this ??

OK, so somehow I managed to get some response instead of JUST the white screen! Now I get 2 messages: The requested URL /admin.php/ was not found on this server. and 2) Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
I looked in the wp-admin folder of thingummybob and did find the file admin.php, so don’t really know what to do.
What is the most elegant (as-in for dummies) way of re installing WordPress? It was so long ago and I’m not sure that I would manage it as easily anymore… the famous five minute install is looking more like gobbledygook to me these days.
So, is there an easier way, or must I put the shoulder to the grindstone?? ??
(I was thinking that I could perhaps remotely re-install a backup, as it obviously isn’t going to work from inside the admin panel?
Thanks,
Peter
OK, thanks, I’ll take look at that, but it probably might as well be in chinese ?? I’ll have a go, anyway! Cheers, Steve, all the best, Peter
(I also deleted all the uploaded photos… ?? )
Hey, thanks, steve, yes, I thought of that and have done it, but still no access. What other directories could I ‘get rid of’ without ruining everything, so that I could start all over?
How is it that I never received an email?
All the best
Peter

In reply to: WYSIWYG tab still missing after manual re-install of WPThey are working on it from their end. They have been able to replicate my problem, so are working on it. Considering that WP is ‘industry standard’, it’s difficult to reconcile it not working on their installations, and I’m amazed that this hasn’t raised its ugly head before…
Thanks for all your input, this must be a real PITA to you, sorry.
Up to now, for them this has been a WP ‘third party software’ issue, and I should ‘address the forum’ and WP support etc. I believe now to have proven that it’s their issue to, at least partway, put their house in order before pointing the finger…Will let you know what happens! Ciao for now! Peter

In reply to: WYSIWYG tab still missing after manual re-install of WPYes, manually. fresh download, fresh database, new user etc as administrator… delete any files that were there first (there were actually none there in the first place, but for the second installation…) FTP upload to new folder etc. rename to config, save as config, enter database/user data, generate the keycodes, paste them in, save again… I’m getting quite a routine for this…
Still the same crap. Maybe I’m doing it wrong, but I follow the directions explicitly.

In reply to: WYSIWYG tab still missing after manual re-install of WPAnd how (or where), please, would I find that out?? I have already notified their support regarding this. The classicbikenut site works fine as far as it goes, just without the wysiwig, which, compared to the other ones, is peanuts! My humble opinion is that there seems to be a problem with the actual installation process, whether of my doing or not. All permissions are set correctly on the server, and still I keep on getting unexplained errors, the installation/upload of themes doesn’t work…
Very frustrating! Yeah!

In reply to: WYSIWYG tab still missing after manual re-install of WPI tried a subdirectory, even less works. No icons for the normal html shortcuts and the file upload/media doesn’t even try to work.
A complete disaster. Installed fresh, new databases on two different sites, neither of them work and although file premissions are all there, no theme installations or downloads possible. I have no idea what’s happening.

In reply to: WYSIWYG tab still missing after manual re-install of WPThat would be difficult… in a subdirectory, perhaps? What difference would that possibly make?? Would be worth a try, if you think that it would make any difference – why should it make a difference?? Top level or sub-directory runs on the same server…
Please elaborate?
